Penglai Pavilion, located within the Penglai Water City Scenic Area at No. 7 Yingbin Road, Penglai District, Yantai City, Shandong Province, sits on Danyaya Mountain. Originally built in the sixth year of the Jiayou reign of the Northern Song Dynasty (1061), it has undergone numerous renovations throughout the dynasties, remaining unchanged and retaining its original Northern Song Dynasty appearance. Famous for the legend of the "Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea" and the mirage it depicts, Penglai Pavilion boasts eight of the "Ten Great Scenic Spots of Penglai." Known since ancient times as a "fairyland on earth," it ranks alongside Yueyang Tower in Yueyang, Hunan, Tengwang Pavilion in Nanchang, Jiangxi, and Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, Hubei as one of the "Four Famous Towers of China," one of the "Ten Famous Historical and Cultural Towers of China," and is known as the "First Pavilion of Jiangbei." Penglai Pavilion is a complex of several distinct temples, halls, pavilions, and pavilions, including the Baiyun Palace's Sanqing Hall, the Lü Zu Hall, the Su Gong Shrine, the Tianhou Palace, the Dragon King Palace, the main Penglai Pavilion building, and the Mituo Temple. Collectively known as the Penglai Pavilion, it covers a total area of 32,800 square meters and has a total construction area of 18,960 square meters.
In 1982, the Penglai Pavilion, as part of the "Penglai Water City and Penglai Pavilion," was designated by the State Council of the People's Republic of China as a second-batch National Key Cultural Relics Protection Site.
