Wudang Mountain, located in Danjiangkou, Shiyan City, in northwestern Hubei Province, belongs to the eastern section of the Daba Mountains. Also known as Taihe Mountain and Xianshi Mountain, it was also known in ancient times as "Taiyue," "Xuanyue," and "Dayue." Standing at 1,612 meters above sea level and covering a scenic area of 312 square kilometers, it combines the majesty of Mount Tai, the danger of Mount Hua, the beauty of Mount Emei, the wonders of Mount Huangshan, and the seclusion of Mount Qingcheng.
Wudang Mountain is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site and a national key scenic spot in China. It is also a renowned Taoist mountain and the birthplace of Wudang Kung Fu, and is known as "an unparalleled scenic spot throughout history and the world's first immortal mountain."
Wudang Mountain is divided into six scenic areas: Golden Summit Scenic Area, Purple Cloud Palace Scenic Area, Nanyan Palace Scenic Area, Taizipo Scenic Area, Five Dragons Palace Scenic Area, and Laoying District Scenic Area.
