I have been to many night tours: Guangzhou's Pearl River Night Tour, Fuzhou's Minjiang River Night Tour, Chengdu's Jinjiang River Night Tour, Nanjing's Qinhuai River Night Tour, Yangtze River Cruise, Nantong's Haohe River Night Tour... Chongqing's magical colors are OK, but the others are just so-so
I chose the two-river ferry from Hongyadong to Danzishi. It runs every half an hour, and the whole journey takes about ten minutes. You can see the confluence of the two rivers and the surrounding scenery. The experience is OK, and the price is OK.

The Stone Carving Museum exhibits were fascinating and informative. We parked at the back gate of Sheng'an Temple on Baoding Mountain and first visited the Thousand-Armed Guanyin Hall, then the museum, and finally the actual stone carvings, before returning to the Main Hall. This saved us a lot of time and eliminated the need for the park's tour bus. The Beishan Stone Carvings, about 16 kilometers from Baoding Mountain and a little over 20 minutes' drive away, are even more worthwhile. The carvings are well-preserved, showcasing traditional Chinese culture and the exquisite craftsmanship of the ancients.
We went there during last winter break. Thank you to the tour guide assigned by Ctrip; she was incredibly professional. We also had a daytime guide at Baoding Mountain, but it was unremarkable, focusing on the religious stories depicted in the stone carvings, which didn't interest us much. That evening, we spoke with the guide at Beishan Mountain, who explained the characteristics and content of the sculptures in each cave, the history of the Beishan stone carvings, and interesting stories about famous people who visited. You could tell she's been passionate about grotto art since her student days. Her explanations were detailed, knowledgeable, and she was always available to answer any questions. We also had a nearly full night tour of Beishan Mountain, which was a real treat, and several of the spots were truly photogenic.
