🌄 The Unique Charm of Dagu Glacier
Dagu Glacier is no ordinary snow-capped mountain landscape. It holds numerous world records and possesses both high scientific and scenic value.
· Millions of Years of Glacial Wonders: Dagu Glacier is a large, flat-topped ice cap relic from the Quaternary glacial heyday. Currently, there are 13 glaciers within the scenic area, the most spectacular of which are Glaciers 1, 2, and 3, covering approximately 8.25 square kilometers and forming over 100 million years ago. Under sunlight, the glaciers appear to be a dazzling display of white with hints of green, and green with hints of blue, creating a breathtaking contrast with the tranquil glacial lakes.
· A Rich and Diverse Ecological Landscape: Beyond the glacier itself, the scenic area boasts a well-preserved environment and a comprehensive collection of resources. You can see over 200 ancient glacial lakes of varying sizes, the largest of which, the Dongcuo Sun and Moon Sea, is approximately 1.8 kilometers long and resembles a colossal piece of jade from above. The area is also dotted with pristine forests, alpine meadows, and waterfalls such as Lingyun Waterfall. It is home to 153 species of wildlife, including golden snub-nosed monkeys, Tibetan macaques, antelopes, and argali, ensuring high visibility in the wild.
· Rich Cultural Heritage: The area surrounding Dagu Glacier serves as the Tibetan-Qiang Cultural Corridor. The sacred Mount Loges, at an altitude of 4,900 meters, is a sacred mountain that local people worship. It also has red memories. The Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army crossed the nearby Changde Snow Mountain and Dagu Snow Mountain during the Long March.
