Historical Origins
Du Fu and Changsha: In 768, during the third year of the Dali reign of the Tang Dynasty, Du Fu came to Changsha to seek refuge with his good friend Wei Zhijin. However, Wei had already passed away, so Du Fu rented a house on the Xiangjiang River and named it "Jiangge." He spent the last two years of his life there, commemorating over 50 poems, including masterpieces such as "Meeting Li Guinian in Jiangnan."
Pavilion Commemoration: Construction was decided by the Changsha Municipal Government in 2002, completed in 2005, and officially opened in 2006, continuing a commemorative tradition initiated by scholars during the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. Cultural Significance
Hunan Cultural Landmark: Known as "Changsha's Business Card and Hunan's Living Room," it was selected as one of the "New Eight Scenic Spots of Xiaoxiang" in 2006.
Poetic Heritage: The pavilion displays Du Fu's poems from his time in Hunan, connecting the past and present and embodying the "poetic spirit of history."
