It's not a big place, so you can spend two hours exploring it. The architecture is beautiful, and the gardens are very well designed. I listened to the stories of Zhang Xueliang and Miss Zhao Si from another guide's explanation.
The Zhang Family Residence is a truly unique place. While it primarily tells the story of Zhang's father, gossip is a favorite, and the love story of Zhao Si and Xiao Zhang adds a touch of color to the residence. I recommend buying the basic residence ticket (which includes the Zhao Si Building), but be sure to use the electronic tour guide to avoid a cursory tour. I came here specifically because I was interested in this part of history, and after seeing it, I'm at a loss for words; I was left with a deep sigh. Ultimately, Old Zhang truly was a hero.

We took the cable car from the South Gate to the North Gate, overlooking Lotus Mountain and the cross-sea bridge. We then took a sightseeing bus from the North Gate to visit the captive area, and then took the elevator to the free-range area to see the wild animals. There were a lot of tigers, lions, and bears. It's actually just a beach. The biggest difference from the free bathing area is that it's a little less crowded and has more sea clams. If you can't get your ticket back, go to the free bathing area. It's also a small rocky beach. There are small crabs and oysters in some of the cracks, and sometimes starfish are washed up by the waves. Tents and parasols can be rented for 200 yuan until 5 pm.

On October 12, 2025, I visited Laobiangou, Benxi, to see the red leaves. The scenery of Laobiangou's red leaves is truly breathtaking! The leaves here are characterized by their vibrant and vibrant colors. Strolling along the valley stream, the vibrant colors will captivate every visitor. Some of the maple trees are incredibly vibrant and translucent. I personally believe the red foliage here is one of the best in China, truly breathtaking. The Laobiangou scenic area is vast, and a full tour takes 6-8 hours, requiring a good level of stamina. The scenic area offers excellent leaf-viewing trails, rest areas, and dining facilities, allowing visitors to enjoy the breathtaking scenery while enjoying a rest stop. However, a complaint remains: during peak autumn season, due to the sheer number of visitors, the management of the scenic area was incredibly poor and chaotic. The shuttle bus boarding point didn't separate people from vehicles, and the queues were chaotic. After dark, the parking lot and visitor center were completely unlit, leaving visitors groping for directions in the dark. This level of management is truly typical of Northeast China!
