It's finally time to write about Fantasy City. This time, I took advantage of my vacation and planned a nearly two-day trip. I stayed at Shuiyun Suji, which is within walking distance. From the underground garage, across a small bridge, and a few steps, I arrived at the west gate of Fantasy City. Inside, I found the graduation season cafeteria—very convenient. I bought a two-day ticket, which gave me free entry and exit. I had hoped to return to the hotel for lunch, but my schedule was so tight that I didn't have time to rest or even eat. I was really pushing myself. I planned my route based on the show times listed on the official account, accurate to the minute. I chose the Second Store for my first show. The navigation map made it easy to find, but the scenery along the way kept tripping me up. By the time we arrived, it was already quite late. The doors opened at 10:00 and the show started at 10:30. You can enter half an hour early, but for my first show, I was uninitiated and sat in a rather out-of-the-way spot. Before the show, the staff reminded me that if I only had one day, it's recommended to visit No. 35 Middle School in the morning, as there was only one show a day, and the Second Store had another show in the afternoon. The service was excellent. This play recreates some events from that era. My overall feeling was that it was enjoyable, but I didn't feel very involved. It was about 10-15 years ahead of the era I'm familiar with. After it ended, I had planned to read the book, but after reading the synopsis, I wasn't interested in the sequel author, so I watched Shi Dai Zi instead. We first entered the small ancient theater. The acting was quite good, but I didn't really resonate with it. Then we were led to an outdoor tent to queue. At first, I thought we were going to watch the show outdoors. It was so hot, I almost ran away, but it turned out to be a transfer. The modern play was quite interesting. I liked the actors and the writer, and I highly recommend it. The show ended at 12:10 PM, and the next show, True or False, was at 1:30 PM. I had to eat nearby. I searched and chose Haitang Western Restaurant. It's a bit hidden and difficult to find. Even in the heat, the staff stood by the roadside to give directions. They were very professional. I ordered a burger combo, but how should I put it? It was a poor fast-food affair. The fries and popcorn chicken were hot, but they didn't look freshly fried, and the burger was pretty average. The whole combo came to almost 100 yuan, and I felt like I'd been ripped off. It's probably only suitable for foreigners and children who aren't used to Chinese food. The restaurant was okay—spacious and cool. After dinner, you could relax for a while. I ordered a coffee special and a Lao Ding Ben sea salt ice cream, which was okay. In the afternoon, we had a performance of the True or False Theater. The script was quite ambitious, but I have reservations about the format. I'm okay with the guided backstage tour, but they didn't give me a specific time. A bunch of people were standing in the dark, not allowed to sit on chairs, on the steps, or against the wall. Who's responsible for safety accidents like fainting, getting trampled, etc.? These risks should be disclosed in advance. If you're physically unable to stand in the dark for long periods, don't watch this show. And are the large names embroidered on the actors' costumes serious? The style is so bizarre. I understand the intention to lower the barrier to entry and establish a unique personality, but it lacks any aesthetic appeal. Overall, this drama is not recommended. Those who like grand narratives and are in good physical condition can choose it at their discretion.
I watched six shows in one day. The actors were very dedicated and worked very hard. Some of the shows require a basic understanding of the Dream of the Red Chamber, so children can just watch them for fun. There are several that are not suitable for children, so you should know this in advance. Lunch was in the cafeteria, and dinner was at a noodle shop. The food was delicious and there were no pitfalls.
