Located at 4°20′S, 55°45′E. 11 km (7 miles) long, 4 km (2.5 miles) wide, with an area of 42 square kilometers (16 square miles). Located 40 km (25 miles) northeast of the main island of Mahe, it is a mountainous granite island with the highest peak at 427 meters above sea level. The population accounts for 7% of the country. It produces copra, timber, herbs and vegetables (especially tomatoes). Cote d'Or Beach, Grande Anse and St. Anne Bay are tourist attractions. There are two parallel roads running through the island.
