I arrived at the gate at 8 am on the 27th and followed the instructions on Xiaohongshu to take the official explanation in Pit No. 1 for 60 yuan per person in a group of 10 people. The beautiful teacher Wang Shanshan explained it in detail from the simplest to the most complex, and the children loved listening to it. The official explanation is different. I don’t recommend buying products. I learned a lot of knowledge.
Great window to the history of ancient China. There’s 3 pits were you can see the excavations (pit 1 is the better preserved and biggest one), plus a couple of exhibitions halls with some of the most relevant findings, all of them some meters from each other. As everything here is usually packed as hell, take your time, avoid the crowds. It’s around 35 km from the city, you can use public transportation to get here (subway and a bus that take you to the actual complex entrance). There’s restaurants, coffees and shops all around it.

I was very satisfied with this trip to Longmen Grottoes. The time was well arranged and the guide's explanation was very vivid and interesting. It was just a little crowded, but fortunately it was worth it to be able to check in as a world cultural heritage.
It is indeed spectacular. The scenic area is very large. It is a pity that I cannot visit every attraction. I went to see the main Vairocana Giant Buddha. It is very close to walk from the northwest gate. Although I also bought a 10 yuan battery car ticket, it only took three minutes to arrive. When I got off, I saw that it was less than 800 meters. In fact, you can walk there. You can rent an electronic guide for 30 yuan per person, with a deposit of 200 yuan. It is the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang in elementary school textbooks!

Driving to the Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River was truly spectacular, allowing me to experience the roar of a galloping horse up close. I bought a combined ticket for the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. They are very close to each other. You can visit the Bell Tower first, then go from the underground to the Drum Tower on Huimin Street. Next to the Drum Tower is the snack street. There are free stamps on both floors. There are a lot of people on the snack street here, and the lights are bright.
It is very convenient to get to the bell tower. There are not many people. You can go directly from the subway station gate and buy tickets on site. The night view is very beautiful. Visited during the off-peak season before the Chinese 5/1 holidays so it was fairly empty. In fact, aside from a few scenic spots filled with photographers, the broader park was a bit of a sad ghost town.. perhaps it’s pricey for local standards, but makes for an enjoyable sunset stroll. There is a flagship night show that requires extra tickets/payments, but we only learned about it there.
The entire park is beautifully landscaped, offering stunning views both during the day and at night. Many beautiful women, all wearing stunning makeup, come to take photos, adding to the beauty of the Tang Paradise. Evening performances are available, so be sure to book tickets in advance during peak season. Watching a performance on Chuanshan Mountain is a truly unique experience.
