Today's Tianmen Mountain experience: The weather was nice, though partly cloudy. We chose Route A, which takes the cable car directly up from the city. I recommend buying a VIP pass to avoid waiting in line, and it's important to arrive early. We arrived at 8:30 AM, and there wasn't much of a line. The cable car ride takes half an hour. After getting off the cable car, you can choose between the East and West routes; the East route is slightly shorter, while the West route is longer. My younger brother wanted to see the Ghost Valley Plank Road and the cave where Guiguzi is said to have practiced [tears burst into laughter], so he chose the West route. I went for the Forest Cable Car (Figure 3), which allows you to ride both the East and West routes. This fully open cable car is quite refreshing, with a cool mountain breeze! The West route was completely covered in clouds all the way to the highest point. Once the clouds cleared, I took a panoramic photo of Zhangjiajie (Figure 4). Then we took the 12 escalators to Tianmen Mountain Square, where we took Figure 5. We queued for photos, which cost 25 yuan each [tears burst into laughter]. Since we were already here, we might as well take a group photo! We had dinner at the internet-famous restaurant Dadu Laoyucun. We ordered the signature dishes, Sanxiaguo (Three-in-a-Pot) and Dagupi (Drum Skin). They were too oily and spicy, and I couldn't get used to them [bursts into laughter]. Zhangjiajie has five world records: the longest passenger cable car, the winding mountain road with the most bends (99), the longest tunnel escalator, the world's highest natural through-mountain cave, and the longest glass plank road... Anyway, I didn't tackle the 999 steps today [bursts into laughter] #TianmenshanSixHours
