Central Avenue, located in Harbin's Daoli District, is 1,450 meters long and 21.34 meters wide, with a sidewalk area of 12,741 square meters and a total area of 18,547 square meters. It is a national 4A-level scenic spot.
Central Avenue, originally known as "China Avenue," was built in 1898. It was reclaimed by the Chinese government in 1925 and renamed Central Avenue in 1928. In 1986, Central Avenue was designated a protected street, and in June 1997, it was transformed into China's first commercial pedestrian street.
Central Avenue runs from the Songhua River Flood Control Memorial Tower in the north to Jingwei Street in the south. It features 71 European-style and European-style imitation buildings, including 13 city-level protected buildings in European styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, Eclecticism, and Modern.
