Highly recommended. A conscientious tourist destination. Affordable prices. Plenty of things to do. Two days is best. Spend two days enjoying the experience. It's truly breathtaking. Prices are incredibly affordable. A two-yuan train ride. Two-yuan water. Three-yuan pancakes. It's the first time I've ever seen such affordable prices at a tourist attraction.
Families, when you come to Kaifeng, you absolutely must visit Wansui Mountain Martial Arts City! This trip was an absolute blast!
Entering the scenic area, it felt like stepping into a martial arts novel. The quaint buildings and NPCs in period costumes instantly transported me back to the joyful world of revenge. The various live performances during the day are particularly spectacular, like "The Three Strikes on Zhu Family Village," featuring horse battles and explosions one after another, the scenes are truly breathtaking.
And here's the kicker: Wansui Mountain Martial Arts City is absolutely stunning at night! With the lights on and thousands of lanterns ablaze, the entire park transforms into a dreamy world of light and shadow. Strolling along the lakeside, the buildings on both sides shimmer with color, their lights reflected in the water, creating a shimmering atmosphere.
The iron flower show at the Chengzhai battlefield is a must-see! Hot molten iron is struck into the night sky, instantly bursting into a dazzling golden flower, more dazzling than fireworks. The moment the iron flowers flew, the audience gasped in amazement, and I was mesmerized. There's also "Legend of Shenzhou" at Haichuan Square, a show that blends modern technology with legendary stories. Its dazzling lights and spectacular acrobatics make you feel like you've traveled back in time and witnessed the prosperity of the Song Dynasty.
When you're tired of playing, head to the food court for a bite; it's a foodie's paradise! Kaifeng's signature soup dumplings, with their thin wrappers and generous fillings, burst with broth. It was hot and crowded in Yichang during the summer vacation, and this tour group was worth it. The driver picked us up at the door, and the tour guide explained and followed up throughout the trip. The service was very good. The car dropped us off at the entrance of the scenic spot, and waited for us at the door to pick us up after we finished playing, so we didn't have to wait in line. We had lunch in a separate private room, and there were 8 people at our table. The dishes were delicious and there were too many to finish. After eating, we could get on the boat early without queuing. The seats on the 4th floor were also reserved in advance. There were also cultural and creative gifts, snacks, and VR experiences. Although the Three Gorges cruise was delayed due to gate commissioning, we did get to tour the Gorges and Lakes. I was moved by her love for Henan. This time, I specifically booked a 2.5-hour premium tour with my children, but was a bit disappointed. Perhaps it wasn't a bad experience, as the guide went through several of the museum's most treasured artifacts step by step. The first 1.5 hours covered the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, and I felt rushed towards the end, constantly checking my watch. Also, I was paired with very young children, so perhaps to accommodate them, the explanations were very superficial, not as good as I'd expected. However, the guide was very attentive. I saw her holding the children's hands the entire time, showing a loving heart. That was a great touch.
The two-hour explanation was quite interesting. There were really a lot of people in the museum during the summer vacation, and many cultural relics were crowded with people. Although the museum isn't large and doesn't feature many so-called fine artifacts, it's packed with details and well worth a visit.
First, the clock in the first-floor lobby. Besides the time scale, the dial features spiral lines that display the names of Kaifeng throughout its dynasties, moving from the inside out. The hands scroll through these names, reminiscent of the ongoing march of history. In the combined exhibition hall, a series of stacked transparent glass panels vividly depicts the impressive appearance of Kaifeng's city upon city.
The Song Dynasty science and technology exhibition in the atrium is even more astounding. The massive water-powered astronomical observatory in the center is a 1:1 replica of the "ancient high-tech" technology I've only seen in books. It's hard to imagine how the ancients designed, crafted, and assembled such a massive, complex, ingenious, and precise object.
Kaifeng Museum has a rich collection and professional explanations. There are volunteer guides as well as paid guides. I have personally found that the volunteer explanations are more professional. It will be helpful for you to pay attention to the time of the volunteer guides at the front desk.
