Guangming Theater, Hejian City

Cangzhou Hejian Guangming Theater, located in Hejian City, Hebei Province, has been for more than half a century. The Guangming Theater is a Liyuan building in the 1930s and is a key cultural relics protection unit in Hebei Province. In 1947, Commander-in-Chief Zhu De watched the performance of the old Yuzhong opera experimental troupe at the Hejian Guangming Theater, and visited the actors cordially after the performance. It was invested by Hejian City Nego, Wang, Song, Zhang and Han in 1934, imitating Tianjin's "big stage" style building. The door face is an artificial stone structure, and the high scale has two big characters of "light" on the book. It is said that the honorarium is dozens of dollars.

The structure of this theater is very exquisite, with a stage on the front and a dormitory behind it. There are two rows of scarlet pillars in the east and west rooms. The audience seat is a chair; the square at the bottom of the railings of the theater building is painted by Chen Tieshan, a well-known painter of the year, with flowers and birds. The "eight immortals" are painted above the stage, which is quite exquisite. This magnificent and ancient theater, mixed with ancient servants and foreign style, was second to none in the county seat of Hebei Province. It used to be privately owned, and it was a great spiritual enjoyment to spend a dozen coppers on a ticket for a play, a box ticket for an ocean, and sit in the theater and listen to the play. Each box had a small square table, a few chairs, a teapot and a bowl on the table, and a few fruits. There are tea stoves and hand towels in the garden, and the service is very thoughtful.
