If you are into history, this is a brilliant place to visit.
A forgotten about earthwork starfort from the 1627 siege of Grolle (Groenlo). Now excavated and reclaimed from the woodland it is a gem that really needs some historical re-enactment events to put it...
Beautiful natural area with an old defence line from the city of Groenlo. You can walk over the old walls and get a good idea of the medieval battle field.
Engelse Schans was used to be a small fortress, it looked like a small town in the 17th century, a square form with bastion at each corner. But now it is nothing left.. There is a viewing tower nearby...
