What People Are Saying About Vientiane

Patuxay Monument

走遍天下XZ
One of the most symbolic attractions in the Lao capital, Vientiane, is this Arc de Triomphe, built to commemorate the independence of the country, located in the center of the entire city. It is said that between the airport and the Arc de Triomphe, the vast masses of people chose to build the Arc de Triomphe first. At both ends of Lancang Avenue, one is the President's Mansion, the other is the Arc de Triomphe, and there is the Premier's Mansion next to the Arc de Triomphe. The squares and large fountains around the Arc de Triomphe are very beautiful and were built by the Chinese government a few years ago. When the sun was sinking, it was also the most beautiful time in the Arc de Triomphe Square. The citizens of Vientiane came with their children and walked around, a peaceful scene. With the spout of the music fountain, the whole square also reached a climax. The most happy city, the most happy country, the most happy people!

Buddha Park (Wat Xieng Khouane Luang)

Xiangkun Temple is also called the Ten Thousand Buddhas Park. The park is not very large. If you walk straight into the park, you will see the Mekong River at the end of the road, and Chiang Rai in Thailand is on the other side. There are various Buddhist and Hindu Buddha sculptures in the park, of different sizes and expressions. It is more like a stone sculpture park than a temple. The various sculptures are set off by colorful bougainvilleas and other tropical plants, making them more sacred and beautiful.

That Dam Stupa

NeverStopExploring
That Dam Stupa, located in Vientiane, Laos, is a captivating ancient monument with a mysterious history. Cloaked in folklore, the blackened stupa is believed to be protected by a serpent spirit, adding an intriguing dimension to its allure. Its distinct appearance and cultural significance make it a must-visit, offering visitors a glimpse into Laos' rich heritage and spiritual traditions.

Pha That Luang Vientiane

The Reclining Buddha Temple is one of many temples in Vientiane, and the scale is not very large, but because it is only one way away from the famous Tayu Temple, there is a huge Reclining Buddha, so the popularity is more vigorous. Inside is a very beautiful tall sculpture, with a prince-like figure in the bow archery. There are several angles, you can take pictures of the Big Golden Pagoda of the Tayu Temple. The surrounding walls are also more distinctive, all of which are the golden towers of high-respected and noble families, which are spectacular.

Vientiane Museum of Contemporary Arts

Shenmu Museum, the richest man in Laos (the steel tycoon) spent all his money to protect 15,000 acres of wild agarwood forest from the Japanese and collected more than 20,000 wood carvings. It is not allowed to take photos indoors. The main reason is to protect the intellectual property rights of the creative design of the carvings, fearing that others will copy them. In fact, such unique and scarce works are basically impossible to copy. Everyone helps to promote them, but it can also promote more positive energy. The whole exhibition is very magnificent, the works are also extremely exquisite, the guides are serious and dedicated, and there are some derivative products to choose from after the visit. It is completely different from a general shopping store.

Wat Si Muang

Wat Simang, also known as the Simon Temple, is the most popular temple among the many temples in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, because of its efficaciousness. Legend has it that a pregnant woman volunteered to sacrifice herself to the temple (jumping into the main pillar pit of the temple), so the temple was named after her, also known as the "Mother Temple", protecting the people of the city. Wat Simang is very exquisite and magnificent, and it is worth calming down, emptying yourself, and appreciating it carefully.

Presidential Palace

There is no Prime Minister's Office on Ctrip, so I can only comment on it here. The Prime Minister's Office of Laos is across the road from the Arc de Triomphe and is also the most eye-catching building around the square. The architectural style is mainly French, incorporating traditional elements of Laos, with red roofs and white walls, and is majestic. Many people easily confuse the three concepts of the Presidential Palace, the Chairman's Palace, and the Prime Minister's Office. In fact, the Presidential Palace and the Chairman's Palace are the same place, just on the other side of the road facing the Arc de Triomphe. The French call it the Presidential Palace, and the Laotians call it the Chairman's Palace, because socialist countries do not have a president. The Prime Minister's Office is the building next to the Arc de Triomphe. The entire square is also very beautiful, and there are many beautiful historical buildings around it, and the fountain at night is not to be missed.

A must-visit place in Vientiane, even if you are not a military fan. It is very large, with a wide variety of firearms, and the price is completely acceptable. There are several packages to choose from, and it is fun to play. The reception center speaks Chinese, and the coach can also communicate in simple Chinese, explain enthusiastically, and help take pictures. The most curious and fun thing is the AK47. I didn't expect the .38 revolver to be so big and heavy. I saw the cowboys in the movie quickly shooting, so I guess it can only be a prop, haha... The most unexpected thing is that I actually got such a good score. I brought back the target paper as a souvenir. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring the shell.

Museum We are staying around the corner from this massive structure. It is not open for some reason, We will try again tomorrow. Looks very interesting and it is beautiufl from the outside.

Nam Ngum Reservoir

The correct name of Nan'e River should be "Nan'e Lake". Nan'e Lake is an artificial lake formed for the purpose of building a dam to store water and a reservoir. It is also the largest lake in Laos. In the dry season, the sky is blue and the clouds are white, and the mountains and waters are beautiful. Nan'e Lake is also called "Thousand Island Lake" by Chinese tourists. Many small hills have been flooded into small islands. Some islands have golden Buddha statues, but they are not on the side of the pier. You need to take a boat to get there. The current pier is also newly built, with yellow roofs, tall houses, spacious platforms, white yachts, and green trees, lawns, and flowers all around. Everything is so comfortable and peaceful.
