I chose Thrifty on Ctrip for my Oahu rental. I was a bit nervous after reading the many negative Google reviews before departure, but thankfully, both pickup and return went smoothly. The Waikiki pickup location was very close to the hotel. The elderly man who registered the car kept trying to sell me insurance, but I kept in mind Ctrip's warning: refuse any insurance you don't want. Perhaps because of the booming car rental business in Honolulu, the car I received was badly scratched, with even a window assist rail missing. I didn't have time to take photos or videos in the basement garage before the dealership staff rushed me out. I uploaded photos of the pickup along the way, and when the app wasn't enough, I contacted Ctrip customer service to continue uploading them in chat, fearing I'd fall into the traps mentioned in the reviews. I only blame myself for choosing Thrifty. I deducted half a star because the car wasn't in good condition, otherwise I'd give Ctrip a five-star review. I asked about after-hours pickup beforehand, and continued to communicate with them about the car's condition after pickup. Ctrip's customer service was impeccably professional.
