1. Shiwan Ceramic Museum is located in the Nanfeng Ancient Kiln, a 4A scenic spot. Nanfeng Ancient Kiln is a ceramic cultural theme park in Foshan City. The two ancient kilns in the park were built during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty (1506-1521). They are the oldest wood-fired dragon kilns in the world listed in the Guinness World Records and are still in use. They are named because the kiln mouth faces south. The location was called Shiwan in ancient times and is known as the &quot;Ceramic Capital of the South&quot;. Shiwan pottery sculptures are the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage. The scenic area has a strong ancient style and a long-lasting charm. It integrates ancient costume photography, humanities learning, performance interaction, and shopping. It consists of 4 parts: ancient kiln, antique street, Shiwan Ceramic Museum, and cultural shop street. The latter two parts are free.

2. Shiwan Ceramic Museum is the first ceramic museum in Guangdong Province, covering an area of ​​5,600 square meters. It is a two-story corridor-style building with a hollow center. The main hall is divided into five parts: Ceramics Collection, the Formation of Pottery, the Evolution of Kilns, the Twenty-four Lines of Shiwan Ceramic Industry, and Shiwan Ceramic Sculpture; the outdoor area is divided into two parts: &quot;Dongping River Atlas&quot; and the Cultural and Creative Experience Center. Specifically:
① Ceramics: Shows the development of ceramics in the dynasties of my country
② The formation of pottery: Shows the three major steps in ceramic production, namely processing, forming, and calcining

By the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, there were 24 lines divided by product categories, each with its own hall name, such as Wushechengxing, Tao Mingtang, Cuixiantang, Yunxiantang, etc., and restored them with scenery

⑥ &quot;Dongping River Atlas&quot;: The giant ceramic mural on the wall is 46.2 meters long and 2.6 meters high. It is made of 539 ceramic panels that are hand-kneaded and pasted. It restores the scenes of Shiwan ceramic craftsmen&#39;s work and life on both sides of Dongping River in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, as well as the grand occasion of traditional festivals, and incorporates 6 of the eight ancient scenes of Shiwan

Excellent show! Highly recommended for all ages. We bought the vip tickets, arrived around 12nn to exchange the tickets for the 2pm show. To our surpirse, we were allocated Center seats next to the mobile stage and we were just next to the performers! Check the WeChat schedule for the street performance, something not to be missed!

The Lingnan gardens are beautiful, with a particularly nice sense of layering in the space. It was my first time visiting Shunde, so this garden was definitely a must-see. It was quite crowded on the weekend, and the whole visit took more than an hour. The style is quite different from the gardens in Jiangnan. Shunde has such delicious food, I would love to eat and drink in this area again next time.

Admission is free. Parking is available for 20 yuan (unlimited time) at the nearest parking spot near the South Gate. The shuttle bus costs 40 yuan and can be used as many times as you like throughout the day. The scenery is quite beautiful, and from the highest point you can overlook the city of Nanhai.

Ancient Nanfeng Kiln

Pushing open the bluestone door of Nanfeng Ancient Kiln is like stepping into a living history book of ceramics! 🌋 Built during the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty, the Nanfeng and Gaozao twin kilns have burned for 500 years.
