Karl Brullov needs no special introduction. He was the only Russian classical artist of the 19th century who gained fame in Europe in his lifetime and worldwide recognition after his death. He certainly had natural gift for painting. Moreover, he was a highly qualified professional of brilliant and fascinating personality. Brullov was best known for his ingenuity, immense erudition, independence of mind and behaviour, noble indifference to material values, official awards and honours, incredible freedom in actions, as well as for his enduring devotion to artistic endeavour. Only Brullov was honoured with a kind of title “Karl the Great” that showed the appreciation and admiration of his colleagues, art connoisseurs, and students during his lifetime. He was a true artistic genius, an innovator and Pushkin of Russian painting.

Inside, it&rsquo;s even more impressive. I was in awe the whole time&mdash;each room more beautiful than the last. One of the most memorable places I&rsquo;ve visited.

The St. Petersburg Blood Cathedral is really beautiful. It is very convenient to buy electronic tickets. The murals in the church are too beautiful to describe. If you want to watch it quietly, you can also take pictures with your mobile phone without flashing lights.

A magnificent museum that shows how the emperors lived. The palace itself is very large, but there are not many rooms inside that have been preserved. The decoration is very rich, there are many works of art. There is also a beautiful huge park around where you can walk all day. To buy a ticket and not stand in queues, you need to arrive at the opening, there are always a lot of people after lunch, especially in summer.

Peterhof Palace

Peterhof Palace completely amazed me. The scale of the fountains and the beauty of the gardens were unlike anything I&rsquo;d seen before. Wandering through the grounds felt like stepping into history&mdash;elegant, grand, and full of surprises.
