Stepping into the ancient city gate, the ancient city walls stand tall, with blue bricks and gray tiles, and the traces of time are clearly visible. Strolling along the stone road, there are antique buildings on both sides, flying eaves and arches, carved beams and painted buildings, and every detail reveals simplicity and solemnity.

We came to Huayan Temple, which is one of the largest existing Liao Dynasty buildings in China. In the temple, the Buddha statues are solemn and the murals are exquisite, as if telling a thousand-year story. Standing in front of the main hall, looking up at the tall Buddha statue, a feeling of awe surged in my heart.

Then, we came to the Nine Dragon Wall. This is a huge glazed screen wall, with nine lifelike dragons, dragon scales, and sharp claws, as if they will take off at any time. Under the sunlight, the Nine Dragon Wall is colorful and shining, which is breathtaking.

Datong Ancient City not only has ancient buildings, but also rich food. We tasted the authentic Datong jelly in the alleys of the ancient city, which was sour, spicy, refreshing and memorable. There was also the crispy sesame cake, which left a lingering fragrance in the mouth after a bite.
