This time I went to Hengdian during holidays, and the overall experience was pleasantly surprised and a little regretful. It was really nice to have fewer people - popular attractions such as the Ming and Qing Palaces and the Qin Palace did not need to be crowded at all. The empty palaces were &quot;contracting the entire scenic area&quot; in any photo. The price of renting ancient costumes was directly cut in half, and the store owners would also take the initiative to help with accessories. The shop owners can chat about filming gossip for a long time when they are free, and it is easier to bargain for souvenirs than in the peak season.

However, the desertedness is also a double-edged sword. For example, the street performances on Guangzhou Street have shrunk to two or three, and some snack stalls have not opened. The most disappointing thing is the New Yuanmingyuan. I took the shuttle bus for half an hour, and found that the park was ridiculously large but had no content. The replica buildings stood alone, and even the water stalls were hard to find. I left after half an hour of strolling. Fortunately, other main scenic spots were not affected. The small bridges and flowing water in the Qingming Shanghe Tu scenic spot, coupled with the unsought-after shooting positions, gave it a more time-traveling feeling.

If you are here for taking photos and value for money, I highly recommend traveling in the off-season, but if you like a lively atmosphere or bring your kids, holidays may be more fun. Remember to avoid the &quot;thunder spot&quot; of the Old Summer Palace, and save your time for the exquisite film and television scenes in the main city.
