This collective exhibition shines a spotlight on the upcoming contemporary Chinese art scene with works by 21 artists, drawing a subjective portrait for the first time in France. The opening of China to the world, environmental upheavals and the transformation of lifestyles in Chinese society are all topics that have been addressed in the contemporary creative output by this young generation of artists, born in the late 1970s through to the early 1990s, as China experienced a great economic boom.
Under the theme of the character 目 (mù), meaning “eye”, with reference both to vision and the eye’s capacity to organise reality, the rich selection of works picked out by the Sino-French curators covers a broad spectrum of practices — video, painting, sculpture, installations, photography and new media — with emphasis on creations in recent years. In the post-Covid international scene, these works have not enjoyed much visibility abroad, but the Centre Pompidou has bolstered ties with this art scene during this period, thanks to the Centre Pompidou × West Bund Museum Project partnership in Shanghai.
Amid this teeming diversity, the exhibition homes in on salient themes regarding the artists’ practices. Core issues explored in the works of many of these artists include Chinese interaction with the rest of the world, thoughts about globalisation and global challenges, especially environmental breakdown.
This generation of creators has also tapped into fertile themes such as the major changes in Chinese society, especially incessant transformations in lifestyle in ever-sprawling, urban agglomerations and the shifting paradigm of regulation of various flows and activities. A sense of China’s extraordinarily rich cultural and aesthetic heritage provides structure to the work of certain artists, who strive to place it in perspective and give it a fresh twist in a contemporary context.
Lastly, the exhibition devotes a large section to new media, a particularly dynamic field in a country that has undergone swift, massive and intense digitisation of both its economy and society.

After the exhibition, a considerable number of works representative of this generation of artists will be added to the Centre Pompidou collection.

At 9 am, I entered the hall from the entrance of the Louvre Pyramid. The sun spilled through the glass in the hall. At first glance, I was shocked by the magnificent building. Book tickets in advance, the security check is fast, and there is almost no queue. We followed the route to see the Mona Lisa, although crowded, but well controlled, can quietly enjoy the famous paintings. Then visit the Victory Goddess Milo Venus, each collection is stopped. The exhibition hall is arranged scientifically, and the lighting and guidance system are also in place. It is recommended to use Chinese voice guides to help understand the background of the work. After five hours of shopping, I still have no intention, especially like the ancient Egyptian pavilion and the Napoleon III suite, which are very historical. The Louvre is definitely worth savoring, it is recommended to enter the venue early in the morning to avoid the peak flow of people.

Notre Dame is worth it. It is one of the most famous attractions in Paris and a must visit attraction. It was rainy today and the queue was long. Very crowded. Enter the interior of Notre Dame, deeply attracted by the exquisite religious works of the interior decoration, statues, murals, tapestries and so on. Taking a lot of photos and reading a lot of religious knowledge. Worth a visit.

We entered the Palace of Versailles smoothly at 11:30 with our reservation tickets. There was a queue at the entrance, but the order was good. The interior of the palace is magnificent, the Hall of Mirrors is magnificent, and the ceiling murals are lifelike. Every step can feel the glory of the French monarchy. After visiting the main palace, we strolled to the back garden. The neatly trimmed tree-lined paths and the symmetrical fountains complement each other. At the top of the hour, the fountains gushed out, accompanied by classical music, as if traveling back to the era of Louis XIV. At noon, we had a simple picnic by the Grand Canal, the lake was sparkling, and swans were swimming leisurely. In the afternoon, we visited the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon. The architectural style is more refined and intimate, and closer to Marie Antoinette&#39;s daily life. The day&#39;s itinerary is rich and fulfilling, full of surprises and touching.

The last stop before leaving Paris, I chose the Pompidou Art Center. The building is very unique, like a large industrial factory. No wonder it is written in the modern industrial style on the Internet. Tickets are purchased online and the ticket is issued fairly fast, and it took less than an hour. Art exhibition, although there is no art cell, but follow the feeling, slowly have to go, slowly have to go, with their own perspective to understand, appreciate.
