The class aims to establish readiness for culturally meaningful disciplines such as dance, contemplative arts, sports, or martial arts, as well as the "mundane" choreographies of everyday life. Drawing on the movement pedagogy of Jozef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea, as well as training methods from Hatha yoga, classical strength and conditioning, contact dance, and more, participants will work on multiple layers of body awareness, physical and cognitive vitalization, and athletic potentiation. The practice in this class is animated by questions rather than fixed protocols. Participants will explore how daily movement practices can be self-corrective, generate insight, preempt injury, and forestall physical degeneration and cognitive rigidity. The class will focus on skillfully and safely channeling energy and force through the structure, distributing stresses evenly across the joints, and enhancing expressive power. Participants will also learn to better attune to each other, supporting kinesthetic learning and problem-solving. The class involves a variety of exercises, including durational stillness and postural exercises, integrative joint articulations, dynamic rhythmic coordination patterns, interactive partner- and object-based games, and playful improvisational scores. However, it's important to note that all exercises can still be done without the baby if they are content or sleeping. This class is suitable for mothers with babies aged 3-12 months and requires prior booking. Before joining, it's recommended to consult with your GP to ensure that you are ready to return to exercise. Please bring your own mat to the class.
