In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Impressionist movement, the Academy of Fine Arts presents La Nuit de l'impressionnisme. On May 15, 1874, the first exhibition organized by artists soon to be known as "impressionists" concluded after a month-long display in Paris. Exactly 150 years later, on May 15, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the Academy of Fine Arts will commemorate the birth of the Impressionist movement at the Palais de l'Institut de France in Paris. Prominent figures will discuss the emergence of this pivotal moment in art history when young artists revolutionized painting in every aspect. The event, led by Academy President Adrien Goetz, will feature musical interludes by Michaël Levinas. Inspired by the current exhibition at the Musée d'Orsay "Paris 1874 - Inventer l'impressionnisme," this evening aims to spark creative energy akin to the liberated brushstrokes of the future Impressionists. Notable participants include JACQUES-OLIVIER BOUDON, SYLVIE CARLIER, BARTHÉLÉMY JOBERT, MARINE KISIEL, FRANCE LECHLEITER, CATHERINE MEURISSE, PAUL PERRIN, SYLVIE PATRY, ANNE ROBBINS, OLIVIER SCHUWER, and others. The event will take place at 23 Quai de Conti, 75006 Paris, and admission is free.
