Relax in our twinkly, airy studio with a glass of fizz (or red or white) and be taken through the various steps that will help you create your own version of Paul Cezanne's Still Life with Blue Pot. Looking to sharpen up your skills or could it be you have always fancied figure drawing but didn’t know quite where to start? Fall into the safe hands and eagle eyes of well-known artist and tutor Suzanne Kemplay for a morning Masterclass. This class is all about capturing the figure in action. There will be lots of quick gesture drawing, from 2 to 10 minutes, where we try and catch the action of the model. We will have a range of materials available to encourage more expressive mark making. There will be different exercises, short, long and moving poses. Expect an exciting, fun and fast moving class. In the afternoon there is the chance to practice what you have learnt in the morning or to develop your own technique and style. The session is untutored but either Suzanne or Sam will be drawing along with you, instructing the model in line with your requests and is available should you have any questions. A workshop exploring basics in landscape painting in acrylic. Over two days we will explore different concepts on how to conceive a landscape painting in an approachable way. One day will focus on seeing the tonal contrasts in the landscape and using them to describe the light affecting the scene, while the other we will think about composition and how to use it in a fun and inventive way to get across our personal view of a particular place. Each day will start with a brief discussion and task to get started thinking about the day's focus and end with a fun painting session outside (weather permitting) to explore concepts in a more creative way. The workshop will end with a chance to show and discuss the paintings and what you have learnt and explored during the workshop. Teaching will be focused on broad ideas and concepts within painting the landscape leaving participants free to use them to express themselves however they wish - although advice on technique will be on offer though individual discussions. Find your inner artististic expression and learn how to develop your own style of portrait painting in acrylics with experienced portrait artist Suzanne Kemplay. Day 1 will start with a short presentation on portraits followed by a series of exercises designed to encourage developing our own style of painting. In the afternoon of day 1 we will be sketching out our portraits and starting to establish the composition and tone. Day 2 will include short demonstrations on painting features and colour mixing skin tones. We will work towards having a finished portrait by the end of day 2.
