WAKA PERFORMANCE - Friday, February 9 On February 9, the groundbreaking performance WAKA will take place in the Netherlands. WAKA offers a vibrant portrait of the determined Ugandan youth of Waka Starz who are eager to make their mark on the world. The performance will transport you to Wakaliga, a disadvantaged neighborhood in Uganda's capital city, where the Waka Starz grew up. Racheal, a rising star in the Ugandan pop scene and leader of the group, will share the real story of their village, aspirations, faith, and the meaning behind their lyrics and songs, as invited by Choreographer Éric Minh Cuong Castaing. The two stages, in the Netherlands and Uganda, will be connected via a livestream, featuring real-time footage of the Waka Starz, along with live performances in the Netherlands. The performance will be presented in English or Swahili/Ugandese, with partial subtitles in English and French. Prior to the performance, there will be an interview with Éric Minh, offering insights into the development and creation of this extraordinary project.
