Sports & Fitness Walking
Walking Cricket, a unique and inclusive form of the beloved sport, has been steadily growing in popularity throughout the UK over the past decade. Its primary objective is to ensure that cricket is accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. While it remains true to the essence of the traditional game, Walking Cricket has been adapted to offer a slower-paced version, removing the need for running and utilizing a softer ball. Typically played indoors, this modified version of cricket not only provides physical activity but also encourages social interaction and mental engagement. Walking Cricket aims to support individuals in their continued participation in cricket, while also offering a new activity for those who have never experienced the game before. Additionally, it serves as a valuable opportunity for individuals who may be facing social isolation, providing them with a sense of belonging and community. Participants have the chance to actively participate in the game, both in terms of scoring and umpiring, ensuring that everyone is involved and engaged. The importance placed on the game itself extends beyond the physical aspects, with equal value given to the time spent afterwards, allowing for a relaxed and enjoyable catch-up session over a cup of tea. Walking Cricket Ashford, a forthcoming event taking place at the Stour Centre in Ashford, TN23 1ET, on December 5, 2023, embodies these principles. The event welcomes individuals to experience the joys of Walking Cricket, with a suggested donation as the ticket price. Join in the excitement and be a part of this inclusive and engaging sporting experience.
