Join a group of like-minded women on a captivating adventure in the Peak District! Experience the charm of Monsal Dale and the historic Magpie Mine while relishing the breathtaking views of the Derbyshire Dales. This 13km route offers an opportunity to delve into the fascinating 250-year history of Magpie Mine and explore the wonders of Monsal Dale and Deep Dale. Immerse yourself in the captivating geology, history, and local flora and fauna along the way. As an intermediate-level hike, this 8-mile journey requires a moderate level of fitness due to some hills and uneven terrain.
Prepare for an enchanting exploration with Emily, a knowledgeable Hill and Moorland Leader, who is passionate about sharing her love for adventure with others. Meet at the White Lodge Car Park in Buxton and enjoy the convenience of nearby facilities.
Be sure to bring hiking boots, snacks or lunch, a rucksack, at least 1.5L of water, waterproofs and warm layers, a hat and gloves, and walking poles if desired. Additionally, remember to have a small first aid kit with any necessary personal medication. While toilets are available at the car park, be prepared for the possibility of "wild wees" during the walk.
Safety is a priority, and a slow and steady pace will be maintained to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. Emily, a qualified Hill and Moorland Leader with level 3 Outdoor First Aid training, will be on hand in case of any emergencies. Dogs are welcome on the walk, but please keep them on a lead during certain sections and be mindful of livestock and other dogs along the way.
This event will take place regardless of the weather, unless conditions are deemed dangerous. Attendees will receive a weather update via email two days prior to the event. Please note that tickets are non-refundable, but you are welcome to sell your ticket if you are unable to attend.
