Mortal Enemies | The Pack Theater
Jan 24, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
Mortal Enemies is an improv competition show where team leaders, Emily-Mae and Sarah showdown month-to-month in a series of short form and long form improv challenges. Both will arrive to the theater with unknown surprise teams that can consist of anyone: from improvisers, to stand-ups, to friends and family, and even local plumbers! Everything is on the table, and they can use anything in their toolbox to sabotage the other team. Think comedy sports meets Japanese game show.
Score will be kept week to week and with heavy audience engagement as the crowd practically creates the show themselves! Guest hosts join us for themed weeks to set the mood for the ultimate battle. It’s messy, over the top, and chaotic in all the right places.

Wallace Berman Off The Grid Los Angeles Book Launch | ARTBOOK @ Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles
Jan 26, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Los Angeles
Jan 26 2025, 3 – 4pm Wallace Berman: Off The Grid PRE-ORDER A SIGNED COPY OF OFF THE GRID -- SIGNED BY TOSH BERMAN Wallace Berman (1926–76) was a notorious guru of the 1960s art pantheon. Often cited as a West Coast Beat Generation artist who rubbed elbows with the likes of Allen Ginsberg, Dennis Hopper and the Rolling Stones, his contributions transcend the comparisons of his aesthetic and the associations that he kept. A self-taught artist, Berman was influenced by Surrealism, Dadaism and the Kabbalah, as well as jazz music and the mystical symbols and popular imagery of his time.
Berman is best known for his signature motif, which comes from a reappropriated Sony advertisement picturing a hand holding a transistor radio, which he found in 1964. By removing the speaker grill and inserting random appropriated images, the hand shuffles up messages that appear to spring out of the ether. His early use of the gridding technique creates a visual cacophony that barrages the senses.
Off the Grid follows the eponymous 2021 show at TOTAH, a rare East Coast exhibition of Berman’s work, which included a screening of his rare short film Aleph (1956-66), followed by a discussion between Tosh Berman (Wallace Berman’s son) and Andrew Lampert, moderated by poet Anne Waldman. A partial transcript of this conversation is included in the publication Tosh Berman is a writer, poet, and publisher of TamTam Books. As a publisher, he focused on post-war French figures such as Boris Vian, Guy Debord, Serge Gainsbourg, and French gangster Jacques Mesrine, as well as publishing Sparks (Ron Mael & Russell Mael) and Lun*na Menoh. His previous book Sparks-Tastic (2013) is a combination of travel journal and thoughts on the band Sparks. His book of poems The Plum in Mr. Blum's Pudding (2014) came out through Penny-Ante Editions. 2019 is the publication appearance of his memoir TOSH: Growing Up in Wallace Berman's World (City Lights). He authored the introduction to Wallace Berman: American Aleph from the Michael Kohn Gallery in 2016. He contributed to WALLACE BERMAN: Off the Grid (Totah) 2024. Learn to Curl in Panorama City | LA Kings Valley Ice Center
Jan 26, 2025 (UTC-8)ENDED
Van Nuys
You've seen the sport in the Olympics, you've heard about it from someone you know, and you've thought, “Hey, I wonder if I can do that?” Come find out for yourself! With no experience necessary, come on out to see what the roaring game is all about. Learn how to deliver a stone, and how to sweep it down the ice. Find out what hog lines, hacks, buttons, and houses all have to do with it. Bring your families out and learn together. Our instructors will give you an overall understanding of what you need to play the game. You'll learn the basics of throwing, sweeping, and some basic game flow and strategy. By the end of just one session, you can be ready to join our leagues and master the game! What to Wear Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can lunge in (stretch!), warm socks, and rubber-soled, closed toe shoes. Sneakers work well. We suggest no Converse, Toms, or other low-profile soles—your feet will get cold! We also recommend avoiding sneaker with large soles like Hokas, which make it difficult to put on grippers. Dress in layers—it can be cold on the ice, but you'll warm up once you start sweeping. Accessibility Curling is an accessible sport and we welcome participants who use wheelchairs, and others with limited mobility. Use of arms and hands is required, but we can provide a delivery aid (delivery stick) to release the stone without bending down. Please contact us in advance if you have questions or to discuss any special accommodations. Participants must be 8 years of age or older to play. Release Forms All adult participants must sign Hollywood Curling's adult release form. All minor participants (under 18) must have their parent or guardian sign Hollywood Curling's minor release form. Any additional guests (photographers, spectators, etc.) must also provide a signed release form before being allowed on the ice. You may download and fill out the release forms in advance, or we will have paper copies available at the event. Venue and Parking This class will be held at LA Kings Valley Ice Center. Meet us inside the main entrance. We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes early to get set up with equipment (a broom and grippers for extra traction on ice).
