Paint the Town Yellow! Flex your artistic skills, make new friends, and help raise awareness about water pollution by marking a catch basin. The storm drain (catch basin) marking program was developed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada in 1991 as a conservation and education project. It involves residents painting yellow fish next to catch basins and handing out educational door hangers in the community to explain the program. Catch basin marking is an easy, fun activity open to everyone. By marking a catch basin, you remind everyone that anything that flows down the catch basins goes into our waterways and can affect wildlife. Seen a Yellow Fish in your neighbourhood? Enter our photo contest by emailing a photo of the marked catch basin and its location to yellowfish@vancouver.ca and you will be entered into a random draw. Did you know that a City of Vancouver umbrella is perfect for both sunny and rainy weather? Enter to win an umbrella with a map of your favourite City, and walk away in salmon socks and a Fit City tote bag. Prizes will be drawn at the event, and all event attendees will be automatically entered into the draw. Information Source: City of Vancouver Sewers & Drainage Design | eventbrite

The Georgia Straight aptly describes their music as Bobby's "blackheart guitar leavened by Sarah's, angels-and-whiskey vocals." Their seamless fusion of Indie Pop, Alt-Folk, and Rock and Roll forms an enchanting auditory tapestry, with Sarah’s voice delivering a sonic avalanche of passion and depth while Bobby crafts the perfect musical landscape. "Focus Your Audio is one of Vancouver's best-kept secrets, but it won't be long before the world realizes just how thoughtful and beautiful their songs are." Adam Hurstfield XOXO Entertainment Corp. (Multi-platinum producer/songwriter) Mike Young of Mother Mother has been instrumental in shaping their sound, producing and playing on their last three singles: Shades, Over There, On Your Own, which have collectively amassed over 300,000 streams. With a voice that channels the spirit of Elvis Presley and the emotional weight of Chris Stapleton, Larosa creates songs that are heartfelt, lived-in, and unapologetically honest. Raised in Vancouver, BC, Larosa was drawn to the music of Johnny Cash, The Allman Brothers, BB King, and Roy Orbison from a young age. His music reflects those roots — raw, rhythmic, and filled with sincerity — but filtered through his own lens and life experiences. After years of cutting his teeth on stages across Western Canada, he’s developed a reputation for his electric live shows, where blistering guitar work and vulnerable lyricism meet. In 2023 & 2025, Larosa was awarded Roots Artist of the Year by the BC Country Music Association — a milestone that affirmed the impact of his music and the path he’s been carving independently. His songs have been featured on Sirius XM and editorial playlists across Spotify and Amazon Music, and he continues to grow a loyal fan base both online and on the road. Whether playing solo or backed by his band, Larosa brings grit, groove, and soul to every performance. His music doesn’t try to follow trends — it’s grounded in feel, truth, and a deep respect for the genre’s past, while pushing forward with his own distinct voice. https://www.antoniolarosamusic.com/ https://www.instagram.com/antoniolarosa/ https://www.facebook.com/AntonioLarosaMusic/ THE TODDCAST PODCAST Hosted by Todd Hancock, Canadian radio personality and podcaster. The Rickshaw Presents Making Movies and Rizo August 24th, 2025 The Rickshaw Theatre 19+ Doors: 7:30pm Making Movies Founded by Enrique Chi—a songwriter, musician, filmmaker, and activist—the Latin Grammy-nominated Making Movies serves as the primary platform for Chi’s creative mission. Rooted in the rich traditions of Panamá, a crisol de razas, the band’s sound is an embodiment of those diverse cultures, offering listeners a unique experience that feels both extraordinary and familiar. Described by NPR as "Perhaps one of the most unique groups around today, Making Movies is sensual, smoky, and seductive.” The band’s accomplishments include collaborations with legendary artists like Rubén Blades, performances at major international festivals, and tours with notable acts such as Los Lobos, Ozomatli, Hurray For the Riff Raff, Las Cafeteras, and Flor De Toloache. Chi is also producing AMERI'KANA TV, a National Endowment for the Arts-funded documentary series that explores an alternate history of American music, continuing their mission to inspire and educate. Their next studio album is set to be released in early 2025. The band is committed to representing their mixed identity of Black and Latino culture and has been a vocal influence in the national health conversation around music as medicine. (For more and other community impact projects, see the group’s nonprofit Art As Mentorship ). makingmovies.world Rizo The New York Times once referred to Rizo as “SENSATIONAL… A fierce but kindhearted fusion of comedy, burlesque, performance art, and rock ‘n’ roll.” Taking a cue from Piaf, Rizo (né Amelia Zirin-Brown) fully embraces the role of chanteuse. In recordings, she is a mysterious figure, a siren ushering you through tableaus of heartbreak, lust, and the murkiness in between. Live, she is an eyeful. An international cult favorite, her stage shows bring her powerhouse vocals together with seductive storytelling and wild hilarious audience experiments. Rizo is a provocateur with an electric wit, and has been called a “diva par excellence” by The Guardian. In the studio she has collaborated with Moby, Reggie Watts, and Yo-Yo Ma; whose album Songs of Joy & Peace, which features Rizo, won a Grammy Award. Rizo has also received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, a Time Out London theater award, and a London Cabaret Award. Rizo recently starred in the role of Madame Zinzanni in the revival of the much beloved Teatro ZinZanni and is in development for a television project with Michael Carbonaro of the popular series “The Carbonaro Effect.” rizo.love RSVP on Facebook Refund Policy No refunds, unless event is cancelled. Labyrinth walking is an ancient meditation practice used by many different cultures for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. For many, it is a way of centering themselves or of seeking insight during times of transition in their lives. The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walk at your own pace, releasing that which no longer serves you as you walk toward the centre and receiving whatever it is you need as you follow the same path out. Our labyrinth is a full 13-metre replica of the medieval labyrinth laid in the stone floor of the 13th-century Cathédrale de Notre-Dame de Chartres in France. About our special guest musician for the evening, Rebecca Blair: Rebecca is a notable harpist in the Vancouver music scene, giving concerts and playing at events regularly around the city. She draws on her classical background to enrich her passion for improvisation. Her musical repertoire ranges from Celtic, Classical to Popular. As a studio musician, she has recorded with artists like Oliver Schroer Teresa Doyle, and Sandy Skofield. Rebecca gives harp workshops around the Lower Mainland and she also performs with the trio Triskellion. Information Source: St. Paul's Anglican Church | eventbrite
