This comprehensive, 2-weeks class helps couples prepare for the birth process and parenthood. Class topics include: pregnancy nutrition, exercises, anatomy, stages of labor, relaxation and comfort techniques, assisted deliveries, medication options, postpartum care & newborn care, breastfeeding, and a tour of the Family Birth Center. This class is designed to prepare your child for the arrival of new brother or sister and the upcoming changes in your family. This one-hour session is filled with fun activities and discussions to let kids feel good about being a big brother or sister. Children will have a chance to tour where their mom is going to be, where their sibling will be born, meet the nurses, practice holding a doll, importance of being gentle, hand hygiene, and learn how they can help with a new baby. Parents will remain in the classroom to make the child more comfortable and to help with tasks. Sometimes older siblings do want to stay alone which is OK.
