Join performers Annette Tesoriero and Karella Mitchell on 'cello at the Summer Nights - Funeral for Jesus event in Nowra. Annette Tesoriero was inspired by the crucifix in a church and imagined the grief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, felt when she couldn't properly lay her son's body to rest. Funeral for Jesus is a thought-provoking excerpt from the larger performance work Diary of a Funeral Singer, written by Annette Tesoriero in consultation with funeral director Victoria Spence. The performance features the exquisite live music of Karella Mitchell, a talented cellist from the renowned Steel City Strings. Funeral for Jesus previously premiered at the Huskisson weekend arts festival in 2022 and will now captivate audiences at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery.
The Summer Nights event will open its doors at 5pm on January 18, 2024. The performance of Funeral for Jesus will start promptly at 5:15pm and conclude at 5:45pm. Following the performance, attendees can indulge in beverages and light refreshments in the courtyard.
