Introduction to Clay – Wheel Throwing is an engaging bi-weekly program offered at the Bailey Contemporary Arts in Pompano Beach. This program provides students with the opportunity to explore the art of manipulating clay using the wheel throwing method. Each session is carefully designed to be independent, allowing students to join at any time. However, it is highly recommended for students to participate in various workshops to truly master the medium and feel comfortable with the materials. During the class, students will have the chance to create their own unique clay object. They will learn to apply underglaze (color) to their work and have it cleaned up before the bisque firing. After the first firing, an experienced instructor will expertly apply a clear glaze, followed by a second firing to complete the piece. Students can expect a turnaround time of 1.5 to 2 weeks for their finished work to be ready for them to take home and enjoy. Please note that to participate in the Wheel Throwing program, students must first complete at least one Hand Building workshop. The sessions are held on the third Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and the fourth Saturday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. At Kids Creative Studio 2023-24, children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of art, guided by our talented instructor, Manzi Liu. With a background in multi-medium visual art and years of experience in children's art education, Manzi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the studio. She has studied art in China and France and holds a BFA in Studio Art- Painting from Florida Atlantic University. During the class, parents or guardians are required to drop off their children and complete a check-in form. However, they are not required to stay for the duration of the class. This allows children to have a sense of independence while still ensuring their safety and well-being. Kids Creative Studio 2023-24 takes place at Bailey Contemporary Arts Center in Pompano Beach, Florida. The center is located at 41 Northeast 1st Street and provides a welcoming and inspiring setting for young artists to thrive.
