Sources of Knowledge & Save Ontario Shipwrecks (SOS) Tobermory Chapter presents: Diving Into The Darkness, a film. An awe-inspiring odyssey about cave diving icon Jill Heinerth, and her journey of exploration, resilience and self-discovery into the planet’s deepest depths. We will be showing the film, in its entirety, followed by a Q&A with Jill Heinerth herself! With the opening of the new dive shop in Tobermory, we thought this would be a great opportunity to highlight this activity so ingrained in Tobermory history with a spectacular speaker, and to share some information about SOS and what they will be working on right here at home. - Jill Heinerth is an underwater explorer, writer, photographer, speaker and filmmaker. A pioneer of technical rebreather diving, Jill is the first Explorer-In-Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society . Her best-selling autobiography, Into The Planet , has been lauded by the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Oprah Magazine. Jill is a Fellow of the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, Women Diver’s Hall of Fame , the Explorer’s Club and Underwater Academy Of Arts and Sciences. For women only. Explore the uniqueness of Flowerpot Island ! This beginner workshop is designed for women who love nature and creativity. Spend the day learning to create interesting photos of the island’s flowerpot rock formations. Leave with practical techniques, confidence, and an opportunity to connect with nature. Itinerary The first boat shuttle to the island leaves at 9:50am. On the way we’ll see an underwater shipwreck, lighthouse, Fathom Five tour, and a view from the boat of Flowerpot Island. We will get started as soon as we get to the island and learn the fundamentals of photography with plenty of hands-on practice. We break for lunch around 1pm. The afternoon we work on photographing in manual, and talk about how to connect with your subject to photograph it authentically, and tips for creating good compositions. We wrap up around 5pm. The boat shuttle will pick us up at 5:40 and finish the remainder of the scenic cruise on the way back to Tobermory. Experience Level - Amateur to Intermediate This workshop is for those who are photographing in auto mode and semi-auto modes like, aperture priority.
