Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School 2024 presents the launch of a contemporary art exhibition by twenty members of the North Tipperary Artists’ Collective, showcasing individual creative responses to material published in the editions of The Irish Review publication (1911-1914). Join us on Culture Night for the launch of an art exhibition titled “The Irish Review - Creative Responses curated by Melissa Ryan for the North Tipperary Artists’ Collective as part of the Thomas MacDonagh Hedge School 2024. Twenty professional and amateur artists have drawn inspiration from The Irish Review magazines published between 1911-1914 in the Museum’s collection. The artists have visually interpreted the words of writers in The Irish Review from the page into contemporary artworks in a unique collaborative collection. This exhibition will be inclusive of an array of mixed media, including oils, acrylics, water colours and textiles. The exhibition will run until November. The artwork will be for sale and the museum will not take any commission. The image above is by artist Helene Moran and will be included in the exhibition. Culture Night also includes readings from the work developed in the Hedge School’s Creative Writing Workshop held on 18 & 19 September, also in response to The Irish Review material in the Collection.
