Tours are free and registration is required. Tours are limited to a maximum of 35 guests and last for approximately 90 minutes. Sixteen murals are currently on view, and each tour features more than half of these. It is a gentle walk around the village, but we ask participants to please wear comfortable shoes. Murals of La Jolla was conceived in 2010 to commission public art projects throughout La Jolla and to bring contemporary art into the community. An Art Advisory Committee, comprised of the heads of La Jolla's major visual arts organizations, invites an international roster of artists to create new artworks, all located on private property and privately funded. The program demonstrates that commissioning artists to create works for public spaces brings energy and vitality to a community. Over the past thirteen years, large-scale artworks have appeared in a variety of locations throughout the village of La Jolla, some prominently displayed while others are tucked away in more discreet locations. Durante su residencia en Etla, Oaxaca y en el Museo Anahuacalli, Marta ha investigado sobre antiguas representaciones del cuerpo, explorando un paisaje corporal formado por puntos, agujeros negros y centros de gravedad. En este taller gratuíto, trabajaremos con técnicas somáticas e improvisación para adentrarnos en una nueva percepción del cuerpo. We will also do a body movement activity together, and a special craft in celebration of Filipino culture during Filipino American History Month.
