Hello! Welcome to our life drawing event ;D Come and try something new, exciting and fun with us! We host a unique evening of life drawing with live music performed by guest musicians local to East London. Every event we host showcases a new performer and we are continually in awe at the incredible talent we’re able to share with you. The first half of the evening will be tutored, with a series of short poses, getting you out of your comfort zone, with playful exercises designed to get you thinking and seeing differently. We then take a short break where there will be homemade vegan food available to buy! The second half of the evening will feature live music from a guest musician who will be performing their solo work, naked. It's a wonderfully relaxing and supportive environment, where you’ll be transported to a place you won’t want to leave from. What could be more tranquil than being serenaded whilst sketching away? Hacknakey is a safe space that promotes body positivity and celebrates all creative abilities. Absolute beginners and more advanced people welcome. This is a great place to meet new people… come alone or brings some pals! A few words from our community: “ Hacknakey host this awesome and incredible life drawing class where I literally almost cried while drawing I felt so happy and grateful.” “I’ve modelled in over 100 locations inside London alone. This is the most recommended group so far in London, especially if you are a beginner and want to have a fun time. Their tickets sell out quickly. I was wondering why before modelling, but now I know.” “I had the best evening last night, thank you so so much. Sam and I have only been dating for a short time and this was my night to pick date night and we just had the most incredible night. THANK YOU! Can’t wait to do it again.” Some housekeeping: - We provide paper, charcoal, and other surprise art supplies but if you wish to bring your own sketchbooks and materials please do! - We are LGBTQ+ run event and discrimination in any form will not be tolerated at our event. Global spending on mobile apps hit $171 billion in 2023, up 3% year-over-year. Despite this, consumer apps are facing increasing barriers to scale. What’s stopping apps from scaling efficiently and sustainably? The landscape is shifting: marketers are face rising acquisition costs, stricter privacy rules, the disruption of AI-driven discovery, and growing pressure to diversify revenue. The solution? Diversified user acquisition (UA) and monetization are fast becoming must haves, rather than nice to haves. Reaping the rewards of such strategies are already paying dividends, but many consumer apps are only just beginning to unlock their full potential. Join us in London at our inaugural Appsfourm conference, where app publishers, marketers, and industry leaders will gather to discuss the latest in UA, monetization, and growth strategies. Appsforum will take place alongside Gamesforum London , enabling attendees to apply successful UA and monetization strategies across their apps. Conference Passes are for mobile app publishers and developers only - tickets are NOT valid if you are a service or solution provider. Passes purchased incorrectly WILL be subject to cancellation and refunded. In matters relating to this, the decision of the event organisers is final. ‘An engaging, thoughtful, and illuminating portrait... Conybeare vividly draws the thread of Augustine's African identity through his life and work in a fresh and elegant way. She has enlarged my perspective on this monumental, complicated man.’ - Madeline Miller, author of The Song of Achilles Augustine of Hippo is one of the world's most influential theologians, an early Christian writer whose work shaped the course of Western philosophy. Born in Numidia in 354 CE, Augustine's African identity has long been painfully denied. But it was foundational to his thinking and faith. World-renowned scholar Catherine Conybeare traces Augustine's travels from North Africa to the European continent and back again, placing his African origins firmly at the centre of his story. A tale of exile, faith and identity, Augustine the African upends conventional knowledge about one of Christianity's most celebrated saints, and recentres Africa as the locus of early Catholic intellectual activity - with Europe on the periphery. Catherine Conybeare is a professor of Greek, Latin, Classical Studies and Humanities at Bryn Mawr College. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including from the Guggenheim Foundation, and has held visiting fellowships at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. She lives in Pennsylvania. Mary Beard is Professor Emerita of Classics at Cambridge, and the classics editor of the Times Literary Supplement. She has worldwide academic acclaim. Her previous books include the bestselling, Wolfson Prize-winning Pompeii, Confronting the Classics, SPQR, Women & Power , Twelve Caesars and, most recently, Emperor of Rome . She has made numerous television series and her books have been published in over thirty languages. Copies of the book A ugustine the African will be on sale on the evening. This event will take place in the Library on the first floor of the Millennium Building, accessible via the Millennium Courtyard on the north side of the Cathedral. Doors will open at 6:15pm. Nick Clegg has had a seat at the heart of power for nearly two decades. As leader of the Liberal Democrats he served as deputy Prime Minister from 2010 to 2015 in the coalition government with David Cameron. After losing his parliamentary seat in 2017 he became Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's right-hand man as President of Global Affairs at Meta. Throughout his time in politics and the private sector Clegg has been a key player in the battle between governments and Big Tech. On September 2 , he comes to Intelligence Squared to argue why he believes that the backlash against Big Tech and the charges against it in recent years are overblown – including the accusation that social media algorithms polarise, manipulate and harm adults and children. Clegg will draw from his new book How to Save the Internet to offer an alternative future for the internet that seeks to regulate Big Tech without demonising or overstating the problems these giant companies are accused of causing. A Quiet Day led by Paula Gooder 3rd September 2025 The Beginning of the Good News: Exploring Mark's Gospel Over the years Mark's Gospel has been assumed to be the least theological of all the gospels - just telling the story of Jesus but little more than that. When you look carefully at Mark, however, it becomes clear that its message is bound up with how the story is told. During this reflective study day, we will be exploring Mark's key messages and how Mark's storytelling helps us to understand them. Paula is a writer and lecturer in Biblical Studies. Her research areas focus on the writings of Paul the Apostle, with a particular focus on 2 Corinthians and on Paul's understanding of the Body. Her passion is to ignite people's enthusiasm for reading the Bible today, by presenting the best of biblical scholarship in an accessible and interesting way. She is currently the Chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral in London. We look forward to welcoming you to our urban oasis. The day will include welcome coffee and pastries, lunch and an afternoon pot of tea and cake. Or maybe book to stay overnight in one of our lovely en-suite bedrooms and make the most of taking some time aside. Any non-chargeable cancellations should be made at least 7 days prior to the day of arrival. A 100% cancellation fee will be made for any late cancellations or non-arrivals. We are thrilled to welcome the acclaimed author of “Maggie & Me”, Damian Barr here to Hatchards on the publication day of his brilliant new novel The Two Roberts Scotland, 1933. Bobby MacBryde is on his way. After years grafting at Lees Boot Factory, he's off to the Glasgow School of Art, to his future. On his first day he will meet another Robert, a quiet man with loose dark curls - and never leave his side. Together they will spend every penny and every minute devouring Glasgow - its botanical gardens, the Barras market, a whole hidden city - all the while loving each other behind closed doors. With the world on the brink of war, their unrivalled talent will take them to Paris, Rome, London. They will become stars as the bombs fall, hosting wild parties with the likes of Lucian Freud, Francis Bacon and Elizabeth Smart. But the brightest stars burn fastest. As we will discover this evening, "The Two Roberts" is a profoundly moving story of devotion and obsession, art and class. It is a love letter to MacBryde and Colquhoun, the almost-forgotten artists who tried to change the way the world sees itself, and who paid a devastating price. Join us if you can for what promisesto be a fascinating evening! Reviews: The Two Roberts is the greatest and truest story of two male lovers I have ever read. A masterpiece. The celebration of these men while staring down their every relentless failing is world class. What an act of the imagination! It’s wonderful, beautiful, heartbreaking, inspiring, honest, true, vital and magnificent. They live, they love, they fight, they sing, they fight naked and drunk, this is truly a literary miracle to look at these men and create them anew with such love, but such a tough, cold eye too - RUSSELL T DAVIES Working-class life and artistic Bohemia collide in this novel of all-consuming passion and the torture of creation. Brilliantly written, poignant and powerful. This is Damian Barr’s chef-d’oeuvre - IAN RANKIN Vivid and alive. A truly great story penned by one of Scotland's finest writers - JENNI FAGAN Information Source: Waterstones | eventbrite

‘It is vanishingly rare for a writer to both confront the ugliness of humanity and still search for its beauty. Roy is that rare writer.’ - Naomi Klein Arundhati Roy is one of today’s most esteemed public intellectuals. The author of novels including the Booker Prize-winning The God of Small Things, Roy is equally respected as a political essayist. Her words on topics from the COVID-19 pandemic to the plight of India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have helped define public discourse in India and beyond. Now, on September 4, Roy comes to the Intelligence Squared stage for an exclusive event. Combining the signature scale, sweep and depth of her novels, and the passion, political clarity and warmth of her essays, Roy will draw on the themes of her new memoir for a compelling exploration of her life and work. Born out of the onrush of memories and feelings provoked by her mother Mary’s death, Mother Mary Comes to Me is Roy's telling of her own story from childhood to the present, from Kerala to Delhi. An ode to freedom, a tribute to thorny love and savage grace, it is a memoir like no other. Join us at Cadogan Hall for a rare opportunity to hear from one of the greatest writers of our generation, and have your questions answered in the Q&A. One of them left the address of the find, gifted by the river, as a neat conclusion. Or provocation for a further chapter. —Iain Sinclair Gifts Returned by the River (Swedenborg House Press, 2025) marks the latest collaboration between the acclaimed writer Iain Sinclair and Swedenborg House, and a new phase of extrapolation from the materials shored up by Albion Island Vortex, an exhibition staged fifty-two years ago at the Whitechapel Gallery. Akin to recuperating drowned Doves Press type from the Thames, Gifts Returned by the River creates acts of reconstitution and imagination using the case of memory. Collating responses to Iain Sinclair’s exhibition Histories & Hauntings (Swedenborg House Gallery, 2023)—itself a restaging and reworking of Albion Island Vortex—this ambitious publication incorporates multiform contributions from Alice Albinia, Renchi Bicknell, Javier Calvo, Brian Catling, Gareth Evans, Allen Fisher, Jürgen Ghebrezgiabiher, Jarett Kobek, Stephen McNeilly, Michael Moorcock, Louis Petit, Victor Rees, Anya Reeve, John Rogers, Adolfo Barberá del Rosal, Matthew Shaw, Iain Sinclair, Ben Wickey and Carol Williams. A limited first edition of 200 is presented in a tracing paper wrap, with two “gifts” enclosed inside. There is also the option to purchase a special edition of 26, signed and with extra material. A forthcoming standard edition is to be announced. Iain Sinclair is considered one of London’s greatest chroniclers. Iain’s early work consisted mostly of poetry which he published on his own small press, Albion Village Press. His novels include Downriver (winner of the James Tait Black Prize and the Encore Prize) and Dining on Stones (shortlisted for the Ondaatje Prize). Non-fiction books, exploring the myth and matter of London, include Lights Out for the Territory, London Orbital and Ghost Milk: Calling Time on the Grand Project. For the Swedenborg Society he has written Blake’s London: The Topographic Sublime (2011); with Brian Catling, Several Clouds Colliding (2012); and Swimming to Heaven: The Lost Rivers of London (2013). He was also a contributor to Swedenborg’s Lusthus (2024). He has curated two exhibitions at Swedenborg House, Histories & Hauntings (2023) and Pariah Genius: John Deakin, The Psychobiography of a Photographer (2024).
