Join the 2-Day Red Cross Lifeguard Training - Blended Learning event in Mill Valley at Scott Valley. This fun and informative class will teach you the necessary skills to save lives poolside. The training will take place on Saturday, February 10th, and Sunday, February 11th, from 8 am to 6:30 pm. Please note that participants must be 15 years old by the last day of the class. Additionally, a blended certificate of completion is required to participate in the in-person portion of the course. This certificate can be presented in either printed hard copy or electronic format via smartphone. Before attending the class, participants must pass a series of swim tests, including a nonstop 300-yard swim, 2 minutes of treading water using only your legs, and a timed weight-retrieval drill. Conditioning yourself ahead of the class is highly recommended, especially if you are not accustomed to swimming. Please be aware of the refund policy, which allows for a 100% refund up to 7 days before the first class start date. No refunds will be given within 7 days of the training, and no refunds will be provided if you fail to meet the requirements, pass the tests, or complete the training. To prepare for the class, make sure to bring your blended learning certificate of completion, a competitive style swimsuit, snacks/lunch, plenty of water, sun protection, towels, and extra clothing and layers. Join Tahoe to Auburn: The History of the Western States Trail on Thursday, February 22nd for an unforgettable evening of Western States History, trailblazing, and fundraising! This special event will feature a showing of the movies "30 Hours" and "They Crossed the Mountains", followed by a Q&A panel discussion hosted by Paddy O'Leary. The panel will include three distinguished guests; Hal Hall, 30-time finisher of the Tevis Cup and co-executive producer of "They Crossed the Mountains", Shannon Weil, Co-Founder of the Western States Endurance Run, and Wally Hesseltine, the subject of the short film "30 Hours". Please RSVP for this event as space is limited. We kindly ask for a suggested donation of $15, which will go towards the Western States Trail Museum foundation. The museum's vision is to provide educational and historical exhibits about the Western States Trail's once-populated towns, mining camps, and trail-side locations of historic importance. In addition, for participants of the inaugural running of Marin County's newest race, The Big Alta, there will be early packet pickup available at San Francisco Running Company from 4:30-5:30pm on Thursday, February 22nd. This will be a great opportunity to prepare for the race and attend the History of The Western States Trail event.
