The National Pool Lifeguard Training (NPLQ) is a comprehensive course that covers Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid, and CPR. It is a physically demanding course that consists of three sections, all of which must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.
Section 1 focuses on The Lifeguard and the Law, Swimming Pool Supervision, and covers topics such as understanding legal responsibilities and identifying hazards in a swimming pool environment.
Section 2 emphasizes Intervention and Rescue and Emergency Action Plans. This section provides training on how to effectively intervene and rescue individuals in need, including those with suspected spinal injuries.
Section 3 focuses on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). Participants will learn essential life-saving skills, such as performing CPR, providing first aid, and using an AED.
The NPLQ offers numerous benefits, including being an excellent starting point for a career in the leisure industry, opportunities for career progression, and the flexibility of varied working hours. It also provides the chance to work and travel internationally, making it ideal for students looking to fund their studies while gaining valuable life skills.
Before booking the course, it is important to ensure that you meet the pre-requisites, including being able to jump/dive into deep water, swim specific distances within a certain time frame, and demonstrate the ability to tread water and climb out of the pool unaided.
