The next Cardiff illustrator meet-up - Illustration Club - is in collaboration with Printhaus (part of the team behind Printed Festival). We are running a two-part Risograph printed zine workshop, with a theme of ‘Viva la Print’, protest and punk. Your ticket gives you access to both parts of the workshop. All materials provided. Part 1: 21 May, 6pm-8pm A risograph introduction and guidance on how to create artwork for a two colour Risoprint, plus other techniques that can be used for the zine, such as collage and monoprinting. Part 2: 25 June, 6pm-8pm zine making, followed by social 8-9pm Folding and creating the zines. Plus, after the workshop, we'll have a social to celebrate the zine. The social is open to those who haven’t participated in the workshop. Each participant will receive one zine. Additional zines will be available to buy on 25 June and at Printed Festival (28-29 June) with all profits going towards the upkeep of the festival. The zine artwork will be displayed in Arthole’s new shop as a temporary exhibition. Please note: Both workshops are at Arthole’s new shop space, Unit 3, Alexandra House, Cowbridge Road CF5 1JD About Illustration Club Illustration Club is a creative meet up, open to illustrators at any and all stages of their education and career. I am delighted to be offering a RISE UP RISE UP themed Magical KundAlini yoga workshop with Sound bath in the beautiful house temple-like barn at Coed Hills Rural Arts Centre, nestled in ancient and magical woodland, just 8 miles west of Cardiff in the village of St Hilary, near Cowbridge. Wednesday 28th May 2025: "RISE UP RISE UP! " - harnessing your personal power Yoga and Sound Bath immersion 6.30-9pm @Coed Hills ------------------------------------------------- WHAT TO EXPECT: This is a workshop to empower, strengthen, uplift and support you in finding (and lighting) the spark inside you, tending this flame and directing this beautiful creative energy in the direction of your hopes and dreams! Life is never straight forward, but we wouldn't learn much if it was. Take the lessons, feel all you need to feel, move through as slow or fast as you need to, let go of what you know you need to, and walk your walk, talk your talk and blossom into the increible being that you need to be right now. ------------------------------------------------- KUNDALINI YOGA: We will gather side by side to practise a special kundalini yoga sequence of movements, breath-work, mantra, meditation, mudra, balances, stretches, dancing, shaking and general merriment to awaken your life-force energy and focus on deepening your awareness of your inner spirit and inner guidance, by observing your emotions, feelings and thought patterns. Kundalini is symbolised by a serpent, an omen of immense transformation, of evolution - moving all of humanity into a frequency more truly aligned with our unique soul purpose, this is a potent time to birth a new evolution as we lean deeper into 2025. ------------------------------------------------- GONG SOUND BATH: The yoga session will be followed by deep relaxation with gongs, Tibetan Singing bowls and Bamboo chimes, and we will close with a meditation to support us in moving forward more focused, more curious and more connected to the energy and the rthythm of this beautiful planet, universe, intangile something bigger than ourselves- our collective spirit! You will be invited to do as little or as much as you feel to - sit in a chair or on the floor (on a yoga mat or padded mat). Visualisation is a key part fo this practise, so the session is open to everyone, and you don't need to be concerned with your physical fitness or if you are carrying an injury of any kind. If you can breathe, you can do kundALIni yoga! Simply meet the practise where you are in the moment and absorb the energy of the group vibration, as we raise our frequency and tune in to our higher selves for guidance and wisdom during these transformational times. ------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Suitable for all soul brothers and sisters 16yrs and over No experience is necessary, beginners very welcome to this workshop. If you have any particular medical concerns that may be affected by movement or sound vibrations, or if you are pregnant, pm me with details so I can advise if this workshop is appropriate for you: kundaliniyogacardiff@gmail.com ------------------------------------------------- BRING WITH YOU: - yoga mat (soft mattresses and some yoga mats avaialble) - blankets - pillow/cushion (some available at the venue) - water bottle - Crystals/sacred and personal objects to place in front of your mat to imbue them with vibrations of loving kindness. - loose comfy layers of clothing- natural fibres if possible - slippers/indoor shoes (to avoid cold feet) - a light coloured cotton shawl/scarf/beanie/head-covering for the meditation, or throughout the practise if you wish to help contain and integrate your energy. ------------------------------------------------- PROVIDED: Mattresses: padded mats and cushions Private "temple" barn space especially for our group Spring water and herbal tea ------------------------------------------------- LOCATION: Coed Hills Community and Wedding Venue is about one mile east of the centre of the village of St Hilary. near Cowbridge (8 miles west of Cardiff). The whole site is run on alternative energy, from high-tech wind turbines and biomass underfloor heaters, to solar showers made out of scrap radiators. With its permaculture gardens, the place is an inspiration for the budding and more experienced eco-conscious. Accommodation includes railway carriages, Mongolian Yurts, log cabins, tipis and straw bailed buildings. ------------------------------------------------- DIRECTIONS: From the centre of the village, take the road past the post box and phone box. After about 3/4 mile, ignore the turn to Coed Hills Farm on the right; the entrance to the Arts Space is about 100 yards further along on the right. Go through the gate in to the field and park on the grass close to the woodland. Walk along the short winding road between the trees and go through the large wooden doors in the building on your right. Remove your shoes, and pass through the first room, through another wooden door, and then down some steps where you will be greeted by the beautiful wooden temple, and then step inside for a warm welcome!!! ------------------------------ TRANSPORT: Car sharing is highly recommended and please allow plenty of time to find your way if you are new to the venue. **Be sure to note down the directions above** (If you do happen to arrive late for any reason, even if we have started, please do come in and find a place as you will always be very welcome.) Our workshop leaders have a wide variety of experience, focusing primarily on developing and inspiring creativity and confidence in children and young people.
