Join Basic Talks for an enlightening event featuring the talented artist Austin Hearne. Hailing from Dublin and currently residing in Co. Wexford, Hearne is a renowned multi-disciplinary artist with a strong foundation in Photography. With an impressive MFA from NCAD, Hearne's artistic practice draws inspiration from his family's background in painting and decorating. He ingeniously incorporates materials from the construction industry into his works and installations. Notably, his film piece "Whispers" was honored as the Best Irish Short at the esteemed Gaze film festival in 2022.
In addition to his individual shows such as "Love Letters to Cardinal Raymo" at Gorey School of Art in 2021 and "Slabs" at The Complex in the same year, Hearne has upcoming exhibitions including "Requiem For Raymo" at The Royal Hibernian Gallery (RHA) from 2022 to 2023, and "Slabs II" and "Whispers" at The Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray in 2023. He will also be part of group exhibitions like "Leap of Faith" at The Glucksman in 2024, "WEARTFETISHISTS" in 2022, the PhotoIreland Festival in 2022, and "Speech Sounds" at Visual Carlow in 2022.
Apart from his artistic endeavors, Austin Hearne is also a founding member of the experimental queer goth music act called Satin Shadow, with three albums released to date. His captivating artwork is held in private collections across the United States, Europe, and the prestigious OPW collection.
