Join Ellen Fisher and the New Art Center in celebrating the 2023/2024 FenceART Artists, and welcoming the 2024/2025 FenceART Artists.FenceART is a year-round public art project directed by Ellen Fisher. It is dedicated to bringing vibrant, varied, and engaging art to neighborhoods throughout Newton. Each year a jury-chosen group of 20 works by Newton artists, embracing a broad range of styles and media, are printed on high-quality vinyl banners. The banners rotate in small groups to 5 viewable fence locations in Newton for approximately 10 weeks at a time. Over the course of a year, all 20 works are shown at all 5 locations. On Wednesday, December 11th 2024 from 5:00-7:00 pm, join Ellen Fisher, Curator of FenceART and the New Art Center in a celebration of FenceART's public art engagement with the Newton community. Newton, MA 02460NEW ART CORRIDORThe New Art Corridor is a public corridor that connects Walnut Street to the Trio Plaza, which features MIDA, Fuji, The Barn, and Clover, is open 24/7 and is monitored by security cameras and a security team. ATTENDANCEThis event is free and open to the public. We will be photographing this event and by registering, you agree that there is a possibility you may be photographed and the resulting images used for marketing purposes (in email, social media, print, and on our website). ACCESSIBILITYThe New Art Corridor can be accessed on the first floor of the TRIO building via Walnut street or from the TRIO parking lot. There is an accessible bathroom in the 2nd floor classroom space, accessable via elevator. For any questions about accessibility, please call 617-964-3424. PARKINGThere is free parking for retail use at Trio Newton. DIRECTIONSDriving: Trio Newton is accessible via the Mass Pike and Route 128. Public Transportation: The nearest T stop is the Newton Center stop on the Green Line (D). The nearest bus is the 59. Exit at Walnut Street and Washington St. Contact the MBTA for schedules and fare information. The New Art Center is a 2-minute walk from the Newtonville Commuter Rail Stop. Exit towards Washington Street, walk North down Walnut Street, cross the intersection diagonally towards Mida, turn right, and the entrance will be on your left off Walnut St.
