Towards a Quantum Piano | Holzmarkt 25

Towards a Quantum Piano | Holzmarkt 25

Berlin
Musical Arts
How does music based on quantum phenomena sound? How can harmony, melody and timbre be derived from quantum electronics rather than from classical physics, which gave us Pythagorean intervals and Western twelve tone equal temperament? Towards a Quantum Piano is a collaboration between quantum electronics researchers from Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig (PTB) and experimental composer/sound artist Thomas Tichai. Together, they take the creative leap from quantum research to musical composition and invite you to join their journey towards realising and demonstrating the first prototype of a digitally emulated Quantum Piano. This event is a combined lecture-performance, with speakers introducing quantum electronics and the project’s scientific elements. A digitally modelled prototype of a Quantum Piano serves as a jumping off point for the live performance of electronic compositions utilising its properties and idiosyncrasies. It can also be experienced by audience members as part of a hands-on installation. Prepare for experimental compositions showcasing musical notes derived from measurements taken at PTB's Quantum Electronics Department, new musical scales and complex sounds created by musically interpreting the resonance of anharmonic quantum oscillators. With contributions by: Dr. Lukas Grünhaupt, Experimental Quantum Scientist, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig - Lead of Coherent Superconducting Quantum Circuits groupAsen Lyubenov Georgiev, Experimental Quantum Scientist, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig - PhD student in the Coherent Superconducting Quantum Circuits groupBhoomika R Bhat, Experimental Quantum Scientist, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig - PhD student in the Coherent Superconducting Quantum Circuits groupDr. Thomas Tichai, freelance composer, musician, producer, sound artist, lecturer and artistic researcherTickets for 8€. Aboutx-dancex-dance is a dynamic practice that blends dance, self-expression and meditation in the same breath. Unlike traditional dance forms, there are no specific steps to follow here. Instead, you’ll be guided by an eclectic mix of music and inspirational prompts, inviting you to tune into your body, connect with yourself and to follow intuitive movement moment by moment. There are no “right” or “wrong” ways to move here – just an open invitation to discover and express yourself. Using the 5Rhythms framework, we will explore 5 fundamental life energies (rhythms) through the dance. The music is played like a “wave” where it goes up and comes back down again. There are 3 essential ingredients to each event: Freedom to be: You’re invited to let go of the thinking mind, explore physical and emotional landscapes without any pressure of performance or “getting it right”Invitations, not instructions: You’ll receive impulses and ideas to explore different aspects of movement and self-expression. Most importantly, you’ll be encouraged to follow what feels true for you.Presence: Dance becomes a meditation in motion, inviting presence directly through the body in each movement. As you feel the music and let the dance move you, your thoughts will be allowed to quiet down. For youPerhaps you want to release tension from daily life and connect with your body? Or, you really love good music and want to dance outside the club space? Or, you’re curious to find greater freedom in your body … Maybe you’ve danced 1000 times, or never before. Wherever, however, come as you are and give yourself the permission to dance, to be curious and to meet yourself in ways you might never have imagined. x-dance is an open and non-judgemental space that invites you to come exactly as you are. No previous dance or other experience required. Information Source: Samar Linn | eventbrite

ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE | Holistic Dance Workshop Series Allow yourself to be... vulnerable bold angry playful bored proud... This is an invitation for you to dive deeply into the wisdom of embodied practices. The sessions will have a flowing focus on Authentic Movement, Contact & Contemporary dance improvisation, Somatic Bodywork and Expressive Arts practices. We will work with facilitated somatic & dance-movement explorations to experience a deep connection to ourselves, to others and to the world around us. The healing and creative potential of movement and body-mind awareness gives us an opportunity to perceive, sense and move our bodies in new ways, and therefore to experience our life story from a different perspective. This process supports us in increasing our capacity to be present more fully and to find resources within us. We have the chance to discover our joy and playfulness as well as to experience our own depths. We will use different tools for processing and self-reflection from movement & bodywork to arts as well as sharing and deep listening. The series will happen in a closed group setting to allow for a safe and nurturing container where we can let our experiences unfold. This supportive community allows us to find our inner resources at a natural pace. Each session is expected to be diverse in experiences: whether silently connected, immersed in inner spaces or freely connecting with each other – we get to be together with the myriad qualities, questions, wounds and joys of our life. This work supports us in navigating our life from a more grounded and embodied place, one that is anchored in trust and connectedness. In this workshop you will learn how to get to know your artistic identity and hence find compelling stories and archetypes that you can draw from as a filmmaker, director, or actor. Writing should always be an important part of creatives working in film. When we write, our head, our heart, and our hand connect. A flow takes place. We get out of our own way and the mind settles. We uncover raw truth that we may not have seen before. For this workshop you will be using material from your own life to write and act from your gut which will then be professionally shot on video for you to add to or create a demo reel. It begins here: Write a letter to someone with whom you have an unresolved issue. Someone important to you from your past or present. I encourage you to write it by hand. Don’t pull any punches… let ’em have it. And don’t worry, you won’t be mailing it. State your issue at the start of your letter. Cut to the chase. Let the pen go… this is not meant to be high art. Spill onto the page what your body needs to say. Yes, I invite you to write your letter to that one person you don’t want to. When finished, set it off to the side and step into their shoes having just read your letter. Write you back. Drop in. Let them speak from your gut not your brain. Trust me when I say “They are within you”. Let them write out all they need to say. Your head may say “they would never respond” or “they would have nothing to say.” Give them the ability and willingness to (maybe for the first time in their life) respond truthfully and hold nothing back. When finished, set this one aside as well. You now have 2 strong self-written monologues. Don’t rewrite or critique. Trust they are enough… as are you. Bring them to our first day of class on November 2nd and be prepared to create a 60-90 second monologue of work that resounds with change, truth, and a powerful aspect of who you are that you will have on video. It’s time for you to be seen, heard, and recognized. About KirkKirk Baltz is an actor, coach and educator. From the start of his career, Kirk has studied extensively in NYC and LA with such noted teachers as Sandra Seacat, Greg Zittle, Susan Batson, Tony Greco, and John Markland. Information Source: Xelor Event Location GmbH | eventbrite

THF Radio proudly presents: Field Recordings. 3 artists, 3 concerts, 3 songs — exclusively written for this performance and based on recordings and inspirations from Tempelhofer Feld. Free entry for everyone, vegan food for the hungry. For the second episode of Field Recordings, we have invited Güner Künier for a solo performance. Her debut album Aşk, released in December 2022, evokes a 70s psychedelic vibe — adapted for the present day — and is spiced up with synthwave sounds and Turkish lyrics. With her minimalist style, featuring her voice over old-school and industrial drums infused with lo-fi guitar and synthesizer sounds, she has been making waves in the independent Berlin music scene in recent years and has been busy playing shows all around. The concert will be supported by an exclusively catered warm-up radio show by Galore. Doors: 19.00. Show: 20.00. The concert series „Field Recordings“ is funded by Musicboard Berlin.
