She wants to get a hobby, date around (especially women), flirt with everyone she sees, wear something not from the business casual section of her closet—all the fun stuff normal people do in their twenties. One problem: Avery doesn't know where to start. She doesn't have a lot of dating experience, with men or women, and despite being self-assured at work, she doesn't have a lot of confidence when it comes to romance. Enter Taylor Cameron, Napa Valley's biggest flirt and champion heartbreaker. Taylor just broke up with her most recent girlfriend, and her best friend bet her that she can't make it until Labor Day without sleeping with someone. (Two whole months? Without sex? Taylor?!?!) So, she offers to give Avery flirting lessons. It should keep her busy and stop her from texting people she shouldn't. And it might take her mind off how inadequate she feels compared to her friends, who all seem much more settled and adult than Taylor. At first, Avery is stiff and nervous, but Taylor is patient and encouraging, and soon, Avery looks forward to their weekly lessons. With Taylor’s help, Avery finally has the life she always wanted. The only issue is: now she wants Taylor. Their attraction becomes impossible to ignore, despite them both insisting to themselves and everyone else that it isn't serious. When Taylor is forced to confront her feelings for Avery, she doesn't know what to do—and most importantly, if she's already ruined the best thing she's ever had. Recital Story
An Evening of Light and Shadow: From Mozart to the French Musical Garden
There are some recitals that transport us beyond the concert hall, into a world woven with elegance, mystery, and poetic reverie. This evening, we embark on such a journey with the incomparable Anne Queffélec, whose artistry is renowned for its luminous clarity and profound sensitivity. With her touch, the piano becomes an intimate storyteller, unveiling the delicate intricacies of sound and silence alike.
The recital opens with Mozart’s
Sonata in B-flat Major, K. 333
, a masterpiece of Classical refinement and joyful inventiveness. Like a playful dialogue between light and shade, its themes dance with exquisite balance, leading us through an emotional landscape that feels both spontaneous and deeply human.
Following this luminous prelude, we step into the enchanted pathways of a
"Promenade dans un jardin musical à la française."
A curated selection of French piano works, this segment evokes the ethereal beauty of water, the wistful passage of time, and the poetic solitude of winter landscapes.
Debussy’s
Reflets dans l’eau
, from
Images
, shimmers like ripples on a pond, capturing light’s ever-shifting play on water. His beloved
Clair de lune
, a dreamlike reverie from
Suite Bergamasque
, invites us to drift in its silvery glow, an evocation of moonlight filtered through the veil of night.
We then encounter the rarely performed yet deeply evocative soundscapes of Gabriel Dupont and Reynaldo Hahn. Dupont’s
Après-midi de dimanche
(from
Les Heures Dolentes
) paints a scene of quiet melancholy, where time slows, and nostalgia lingers. Hahn’s
Hivernale
and
Le Banc Songeur
(from
Le Rossignol éperdu
) offer meditative vignettes, where winter hushes the world into stillness and a solitary bench becomes a seat for wistful contemplation.
Charles Koechlin’s
Chant de pêcheurs
(
Paysages et Marines
, Op. 63 No. 10) carries us to the shores where fishermen sing their timeless songs to the sea, while Florent Schmitt’s
Glas
(
Musiques Intimes
No. 6) closes the recital with an intimate, haunting resonance, its solemn tolling a final meditation on time and memory.
A program rich in lyricism and depth, this evening’s performance invites us to listen beyond the notes, to hear the echoes of reflections, longing, and the intangible poetry of sound.

Exhibition Opening of Holger Thoss' "Wilkenroth Landscapes" | Deutsches Haus At New York University
Apr 9, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
New York
Deutsches Haus at NYU presents the exhibition opening of Holger Thoss’ Wilkenroth Landscapes and an artist talk between the photographer and the writer Paul Elie. The exhibition will remain on view at Deutsches Haus at NYU through May 31. In “Wilkenroth Landscapes,” Holger Thoss embarks on a personal and evocative journey, capturing the landscapes surrounding the quaint village of Wilkenroth, Germany. Through his images, he explores the manifestation of personal memory in physical landscapes, and the overarching themes of identity, nature, and belonging. Intentionally treading the same paths his parents walk daily, Thoss creates a poignant connection to his past and heritage. Through his lens, Thoss delves deep into his formative relationship with nature, growing up in Germany. Nature wasn’t merely a backdrop to his childhood, but a fundamental force that shaped his sense of being. It fostered within him a profound connection to the universal experience of being alive – the simultaneous connection to both the divine and the grounded self, the harmonious coexistence of body and spirit. This sense of connection to something larger than oneself is related to the concept of self-forgetfulness, where the separation between the self and the world diminishes. About the artist:Holger Thoss, a Brooklyn resident with German roots, integrates martial arts into his life to enhance his photography. His lifelong pursuit has been centered around the fundamentals of breathing, moving, and observing. Guided by intuition, he adopted philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's motto Don't Think! Look! as his guiding principle. Photography transcends mere profession or passion for him; it is his art, his craft, and the key to deciphering life's enigmas. Born in Germany, Holger relocated to New York City in 1988. With a 30-year career in editorial and commercial photography, he currently dedicates his time to personal projects and the creation of public art. A large installation of his “WALK” project was recently exhibited at the Düsseldorf Photo+ Biennale. About the interlocutor: Paul Elie is a senior fellow in Georgetown University’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, and a regular contributor to The New Yorker. He is the author of two books, The Life You Save May Be Your Own: An American Pilgrimage (2003) and Reinventing Bach: The Search for Transcendence in Sound (2012), both National Book Critics Circle Award finalists. His third book, The Last Supper: Art, Faith, Sex, and Controversy in the 1980s, will be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in May 2025. He lives in Brooklyn. Attendance:While NYU has ended COVID-19 related restrictions and policies, we continue to remind and recommend to members of the NYU community that they stay up-to-date on their boosters and stay home if they feel sick. Masks are always welcome. This exhibition and opening event are made possible through an endowment established by Roger J. Schnetzer.

Tantric Latihan - Moving in the Mystery | Tribeca Loft
Apr 10, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
New York
Latihan is an intuitive practice that helps you connect more authentically with yourself and others, without masks.
It’s about being fully present in your body and fully embracing each moment.
Originating from Indonesia's Subud tradition, it’s a practice of surrender—letting go of the ego and simply being. In this modern twist on an ancient tradition, we introduce blindfolded movement to help quiet the senses, allowing you to focus more deeply on the connection with yourself and others.
In Tantric Latihan, your body becomes your guide.
Through spontaneous movement, you engage with your emotions, instincts, and natural flow. It’s about releasing stuck energy, breaking old patterns, and finding freedom in the present.
The more you let go and trust your body to lead you... the more joy, trust, and connection can naturally unfold.
This strengthens resilience, builds deeper connections, and encourages you to embrace vulnerability.
Specifically, Latihan invites practitioners to:
Slow down and embrace the power of stillness
Deepen your connection through touch and attunement
Release attachment to identity, both your own and others’
Fully inhabit your body, embracing freedom and expression
Use discomfort and triggers as opportunities for growth
Align with your authentic self

*Full agenda is listed below
What to Bring
Bring your own blindfold if you have one; we will also have some on hand for you.
Wear comfy clothing that you can move in, like what you might wear to a yoga class.
Plan to arrive before the doors close (usually 30 minutes after the published start time)
Come ready for stillness, movement, dance, laughter and tears, connection with source and with others, and more!
What People Say
"Loved the space and the container; it all felt very welcoming and comfortable"
“I enjoyed being able to explore touch and connection in a safe environment.”
“Having a chance to connect with kindred spirits, see old friends, and meet new ones got me out of my head and into my body on a very chilly winter day!”
“The connection alone was worth attending for."
What Are the Benefits of this Practice
Latihan enhances your ability to relate to others by increasing self-awareness and revealing your patterns, conditioning, and unconscious habits.
By removing sight, your other senses heighten, allowing you to observe your emotions, reactions, and coping mechanisms in real time.
This practice helps you discover where you hold yourself back from fully embracing your desires, and where you may struggle with boundaries or conscious awareness.
Latihan is ideal for those with experience in meditation, tantra, or other practices that foster self-exploration and ultimately help us to
leave the ego behind and move into the real self.

If someone asked you to choose your closest-held values from a deck of cards, would you know which ones are yours or the ones you were told to pick up? In his second session with his therapist, Noah Eisenberg was asked to define just that. In ‘My Therapist Told Me Not To’ Noah takes you on the journey of the ten values he chose and the songs and stories that reshaped his identity from “who he was supposed to be” to who he really is. Exploring the intersections between ambition, sex, love, loss, and artistic freedom, Noah drops the facade and invites you into his most intimate session.

2025 OSR Bread Route Race: DOWNTOWN | Downtown
Apr 11, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
New York
DOWNTOWN is the second of three 2:00am Bread Route Races coming in 2025. The next will be my ‘Dad’s Route’ this summer! The OSR Bread Route Races are deeply personal. They’re a reflection of the time I spent with my father as a child, joining him on his late-night bread delivery routes through Manhattan. Those quiet hours, when the city’s streets were empty and the world seemed to belong to just the two of us, left a mark on me that I carry to this day. It was during those early mornings that I first came to see New York City in a way most never do. While others slept, my father and I moved through the silent streets, weaving between neighborhoods and buildings, feeling as though the entire city existed solely for us. It was magical, intimate, and unforgettable. That experience, the solitude, the rhythm, the feeling of connection to the city, became the foundation for my approach to race design. The Bread Route Races aim to capture that same sense of ownership over the city, offering participants a chance to experience New York in its rawest, most authentic form. These races are designed to take you through the quiet, hidden corners of the city, mirroring the routes my father and I shared during those formative years. This one-of-a-kind experience captures the soul of New York City. It’s about finding beauty in the quiet, owning the streets, and becoming a part of a legacy that bridges generations, back to old New York. For a few hours, as the city’s pedestrians sleep, the streets are ours. Image by Ava Pellor 2024 Event Information: Race is on rain or shine. There will be no HQ or restrooms. We will be meeting on the street. OSR will provide a mobile bag check (please bring the bare minimum). Additional information and course requirements will be emailed to registered athletes before the race. Race Date: Friday April 11th, 2025 (Thursday Night/Friday Morning) Race Distance: 7-9 Miles Athlete Check-In: 1:35am-1:55am Mandatory Startline Briefing: 1:57am Race Start Time: 2:00am Event Ends: 3:20am Race HQ: None Start Location: To be announced (DOWNTOWN) Finish Location: The bike path at the end of Pike Slip between Cherry St and South St. Prize Money: $200 for 1st Place in each Field. The unmarked course will take athletes through the city streets, sidewalks, parks and landmarks in the middle of the night. This is not for the faint-hearted, it is intended for the most experienced runners only. OSR reserves the right to deny anyone entry. We will head to Remedy Diner for breakfast after (meal not included in ticket cost). This race will provide it's participants with a one-of-a-kind OSR racing experience in 7-9 miles for a properly planned route. There are no refunds or transfers.
