This 2-day workshop is an introduction to Japanese papermaking and printmaking within a comfortable, professional artist studio in Glasgow. During this particular weekend workshop, Parade Artists will be hosting their Winter sale within the gallery space at Hanson Street, bringing a festive energy to those visiting the building. Pulp will also provide some seasonal treats for participants during the weekend course, so come and enjoy a fantastic learning experience with tutors Alison Newman and Elspeth Lamb and begin the Festive season. During the workshop itself, participants will process and use specialist Oriental plant fibres such as Kozo, Gampi and Mitsumata to make a lovely selection of papers in various sizes on the first day. An introduction to Japanese Mokuhanga printing will then unfold over the following day. Woodblocks will be carved and a small edition printed on Japanese papers using traditional cutting knives, Japanese inking brushes and barens (printing pads). Printing on beautiful Kozo paper, you will produce unique prints in the Japanese woodblock tradition. Demonstrations and samples of work will also be shown. Taught by expert printmaker / artist Elspeth Lamb in combination with Alison Newman @ PULP: Paper Arts Workshop. Both are experienced tutors and have visited and studied with masters in Japan. Limited spaces available and suitable for all levels. Enjoy a lovely cup of coffee while we create and talk in Spanish. The art workshop in Spanish is a place to create and explore techniques, materials, styles or specific contents of the visual arts while we chat in Spanish. This space was created by Mirella Martinez an artist and art teacher from Argentina, who since living in Glasgow has been running painting classes and art workshops in Spanish to link Art and Language with Spanish immersion and conversation practice. Open to adults of all ages, intermediate to advanced Spanish students and native speakers welcome. If Spanish is your second language, these Spanish immersion art classes are a different space to practise speaking and listening while we do some art. Also, if Spanish is your first language and you want to participate in an art lesson to exchange culture and experiences while meeting new people, maybe this is something for you. The drop-in session is £12. Materials are included. While enjoying the class, please consider treating yourself to a drink or food, It is an optional way to enhance your experience and support our gracious host. All sessions are different and you don't need previous art experience, just be willing to experiment and create. Please bring something to carry an A4 sheet. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me. You are invited to join Food Research Group Durty Beanz and contemporary visual artist Mark Titchner as they discuss their new collaborative public artwork 'Destructive Distraction: Influencers, Kebabs and Climate Crisis' located in Govan, Glasgow. The event will be hosted by actor and writer Sanjeev Kohli at Film City Glasgow, approximately 250-meters from the billboard. Complementary refreshments and crisps butties will be provided! If you would like to join us, please just reserve as many tickets as you require. There is no charge for this event. Durty Beanz (DB) are an Action Research Group based in Glasgow (UK). Established in 2019, the group produce a diverse range of outputs operating between contemporary art practice, gastronomy and digital anthropology. DB aim to consider the material and symbolic practices of food, as well as the institutions and understandings related to its production, consumption, distribution and representation. Their goal is to playfully interrogate the biopsychosocial status of the things we eat, specifically in relation to food inequalities, climate crisis and cultural identities. Mark Titchner(b. 1973, Luton, UK) is an artist based in London, UK. His work focuses on an exploration of words and language, in recent years much of his production has been based in the public realm. These public works have often been created from group activities, working particularly with young people and in mental health settings. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2006, participated in the Venice Biennale in 2007 and was Artist in Residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto in 2012. All of our classes are beginner friendly and are taught by a professional artist who will guide you through the painting process. You will see three top comedians, including a headline set from one our favourite comedians on the Scottish comedy scene. The show will be hosted by an experienced, jovial, compere to keep things running smoothly. Our venue is intimate, so only a limited number of tickets are available each show. Festive Brunch Burger and a Drink Deal, burgers selected from below at checkout. Drink will be pint or small glass of house wine. Crimbo burger - Two 3oz steak burgers in a brioche bun topped with Turkey, stuffing, pigs in blankets, with a side of gravy. Served with fries. Festive bird burger – The classic buttermilk fried chicken burger in a brioche bun, topped with sage and onion stuffing. Served with fries. Cran-Brie Merry Clucker – Buttermilk fried chicken burger in a brioche bun, topped with brie, bacon and cranberry sauce. Served with fries. Pigs in Blankets Bap - Succulent pork link sausages wrapped in smoked streaky bacon and glazed with 100% pure Canadian maple syrup, served in a brioche bun.
