Winnifred the Woebegone is just a simple swamp princess looking to win the heart of Prince Dauntless. Join us to find out if she can pass the impossible test Queen Aggravain has in store for her! Featuring a marvellously modern yet medieval score, this high-energy musical showcases the talent of its spirited and mighty youth performers. Don't hit the snooze button and miss out on this enchanting production! The run time of Once Upon a Mattress: Youth Edition is around an hour and fifteen minutes, with no intermission. Performances will take place in Corner Stage (FAB 2-51) in the Fine Arts Building on the University of Alberta campus. Evening shows will begin promptly at 6pm, while our matinee show will begin at 2pm. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite up until the start of the show, or with cash at the door (unless the performance is sold out). Paid parking is available in Lot U and in the Timms/Telus Carpark on the UofA campus. Entrance to the theatre is on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building; there is an elevator and wheelchair accessible seating for patrons with accessibility needs. Embrace the cozy nature of the show and bring seating pads, couch cushions, pillows, etc to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Our venue has limited chairs available and a concrete floor. Please note that due to the hazards that folding chairs present in the case of an evacuation, the UofA will only allow music festival style chairs no higher than 5 inches off the ground. Ready to paint this PAIRED PAINTING together? Remember, Mother's Day is about your Mom always being right (right?). And we heard her say Oh a painting I can make with my loved ones, just to celebrate me? Sign me up! so you sort of have to now. For those of you living under rocks, for a paired painting our artist will instruct you step-by-step how to paint one picture - split between two canvases - for you and your companion(s) to paint away. Be super creative and paint in objects or colours that connect one painting to the next when sitting side by side! Don't worry though, you're very welcome to show up and paint the whole painting on ones canvas. Remember that 1 ticket gets you 1 canvas, so make sure that human you want to paint with grabs a ticket too! And not to lean too hard into the whole Mother's Day thing here, but let's face it, someone else should be buying her a ticket. Ages 18+ event *VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION*After purchasing your ticket YOU MUST: - submit a photo of your pet to hello@pubnpaint.ca with the subject “PYP MAY 17” - include your NAME (the same used to purchase your ticket) in your email - only 1 pet photo per purchased ticket (yes, we agree, your pet is the best; please only send one photo) - when submitting multiple pets for multiple tickets (1 photo/canvas), assign the painter’s name to each pet picture - ensure you have good lighting for the photo (try in front of a window or outside) - phone photos are acceptable. - send a .JPEG or .PNG file *PHOTOS MUST BE SUBMITTED ASAP. THE DEADLINE IS MAY 15 23:30 (11:30 PM)* What could be better than painting and drinking but with your pet! In this Pub N Paint event you get to PAINT YOUR PET onto a canvas to have furever! Join us at Rooster Kitchen for this specialized paint night experience. Follow along with step-by-step instructions on how to recreate your pet in paint, sip on your $5 pints & mimosas, and laugh with the other painters at the instructor's jokes (note there is no option to opt out of laughing at the instructor's jokes). This is a fun, inclusive, supportive and relaxed atmosphere, promoting the creation of art in good company. Supplies are all included, so bring yourself and be ready for a good time! If you are a large group of people who signed up separetly, please email hello@pubnpaint.ca with the subject line PubNPaint Group Booking” to confirm the number of guests signed up in your party, names included.We will have a harder time if all you give us are nicknames, but this could be a lot of fun too.
