Screening of “Willy Loman Comes to China” The Arthur Miller Writing Studio, Inc. together with the Roxbury Public Library, will screen the short documentary, “Willy Loman Comes to China” at the Minor Memorial Library in Roxbury, CT. The award-winning film was made for the CBS News series “Our Times with Bill Moyers,” when producer, writer, and director Harry Moses and Moyers accompanied Arthur Miller to Beijing in 1983 as he directed the first Chinese production of Death of A Salesman. Q&A to be held after the screening. Refreshments will be served. Reservations are requested as space is limited. “Willy Loman Comes to China” won the 1983 Directors Guild Award for Best Documentary. This screening is the first in a planned series of short documentaries about creative people in Litchfield County. The County has drawn a remarkable number of artists, writers, and other creative people throughout it's long history and that legacy will be celebrated with these short films. Upcoming programs will be hosted approximately monthly on Fridays, with opportunities for a social gathering that starts the weekend.
Harry Moses Bio Harry Moses produced about 100 stories for 60 Minutes and other CBS News programs and went on to make documentaries on everything from the assassination of JFK to the criminal justice system in Louisiana. Moses’s longtime interest in the creative process resulted in films on writers James Baldwin, Woody Allen, Neil Simon and Arthur Miller. Willy Loman comes to China, a documentary on Miller’s trip to Beijing, where he was invited to direct the first Chinese production of Death of a Salesman, won the Directors Guild of America award for Best Documentary of the year.

This traditional event is held at Oase Pond in Kakamigahara City, Gifu Prefecture, which is said to be the residence of the dragon god since ancient times. About 1,500 fireworks, including colorful starlight fireworks and musical fireworks, excite the audience. Fireworks are launched from small boats floating on the pond, creating an atmosphere as if watching a giant snake and the dragon god dancing, and can be viewed up close.
The musical fireworks are accompanied by music, which is not only pleasing to the eyes, but also pleasant to the ears. The fireworks reflected on the surface of Oase Pond are also breathtakingly beautiful. There are also food stalls around the venue, offering a variety of food and drinks.

Parents can register kids for either Tuesday OR Wednesday classes. This is for the Tuesday classes. Runs twice a month through May 2025. During the first session, kids will be read a fun story by one of our teachers and get to create multiple related hands on art projects. The second session each month children will be visited by a mystery animal from the Roosevelt Park Zoo! Then, they will make art based around the animal. Open to ages 9 Months - 5 years old. Parent Participation required. There are 16 sessions in total. Program Fees: Members - $100 | Nonmembers - $120 Drop in rate - $10.00 per class.
