Arts Film
The Independent Horror Society has been dedicated to supporting grassroots horror cinema for nearly 10 years, and we're so proud to have 2,000+ committed horror fans and filmmakers in our ranks. We have launched the Indie Film Showcase to do what we love best -- bringing incredible short genre films from hugely talented filmmakers, to the wonderful UK horror community. And in June we hosted a brand-new line up of short films in London, showcasing a superb range of projects from all over the globe. But with so much passion and hard work having gone into each and every film on the line up, we want as many folk as possible to see them. Which is why we're delighted to be able to take them out on the road -- and our next stop will be the glorious city of Manchester! What's more, 20% of all profit made on ticket sales will go straight into our Creators Fund -- so by coming along, you're actively helping creators fund their next projects! So join us at the 53Two theatre on Watson Street for a night of fun, meeting new friends, networking, and of course -- over 2 solid hours of incredible short horror films. Doors open at 6:30pm, with films starting at 6:45pm. There will also be a short break between blocks. (Please note: standard IHS Members can get tickets for £11, and IHS Pro members get them for just £6. Please see our member hubs for the codes!) Here's a quick preview of what's in store: Alexa, Stop. UK, Dir: Sam Dixon An errant Alexa causes problems for a girl alone at night. Babushka UK, Dir: Jon James Smith Annie Parker-Reed is desperate to protect her young daughter from the evil she inherited, but when they find an old Babushka doll in the attic, the past finds them both. Bath Bomb USA, Dir: Colin G. Cooper A possessive doctor prepares an ostensibly romantic bath for his narcissistic boyfriend, but after an accusation of infidelity, things take a deeply disturbing turn. I See You’re Alone UK, Dir: Danielle Spontak A music producer receives a creepy song from her boss and listens to it alone in her home. The more she listens to it, the scarier it gets. Eyeballs start to materialize around her and before she realizes what’s going on – it’s too late. The music producer dies and her eyes have been taken... Make Me A Pizza USA, Dir: Talia Shea Levin A very hungry woman tells a pizza delivery guy she can’t pay for the pizza she ordered. But can the sex she offers instead of currency possibly equate to the true value of a pizza? Is there anything that can be worthy of pizza, aside from what the market has decided? Moonlight Haunts UK, Dir: Kayal Karuppiah Hallow sleeps, but not alone. Sometimes it’s better to ignore sounds in the night. Nettle Day UK, Dir: Jack Nicholls An idealistic young teacher’s faith in kindness is ripped apart as she struggles to save a destructive child from being kicked out of school. Square Peg UK, Dir: Molly Comerford Edwin, a lonely, narcissistic vampire, returns home after a restock to lament about life and his yearning to be normal to his best friend Morris – a decapitated head that loathes his guts. The Birdwatcher UK, Dir: Ryan Mackfall Investigators approach a bird watching hut deep in the forest following the disappearance of a grieving man. As they piece together his final moments, the evidence they gather becomes increasingly unnerving and hard to explain. The Eyes of Marge UK, Dir: Lily Howkins A self-hating social worker traumatised by his sister’s death from domestic abuse, is plagued by phone calls from an unknown woman looking for her dead sister. The Feed UK, Dir: Graham Robertson A man is dragged deep into a black forest, where the sound of a fiddle stirs something in the darkness. The Tunnel UK, Dir: Brendan Cleaves Four friends on a boat trip face a nightmarish battle for survival in a cursed tunnel. Wild Animal UK, Dir: Beth Park A successful woman finds an abandoned baby and is stalked by the mother. Long live indie horror! Information Source: The Independent Horror Society | eventbrite

Explore the Station Agents House and its history as part of Heritage Open Days with the Landmark Trust. In 1828, the building and the surrounding site was identified by the Liverpool & Manchester Railway (under the initial supervision of Engineer George Stephenson) as being well placed for what would be Liverpool Road Station. The house became the dwelling of the first Station Agent, Joseph Green and his family. The Station Agent’s House was the hub around which Liverpool Road Station was developed. Here, so much that would characterise train travel was first seen: waiting rooms, signals, tickets, ticket offices, and the station agent’s (later master's) house. Come and explore this grand Victorian home, now wonderfully restored for future generations and families to enjoy as a hub for exploration of Manchester and the surrounding area. We will be sharing information about the history of the building, and a Children’s Explorer activity booklet will be available. All are welcome. Whilst booking is not essential we would ask that you register for the event via Eventbrite so that we can provide you with updates regarding the event and manage capacities. Priority will be given to those who have pre-registered. Finding us The main entrance for the event will be the front door on Liverpool Road, near the junction with Water Street. Due to the capacity of the building we will be running timed admission slots throughout the day. Please therefore book your preferred admission time, and arrive within your time slot to be sure of entry. Please note, on the day if we are at capacity you may be asked to wait a short period, we thank you for your patience in this situation. Accessibility The Station Agent’s House has been designed to be as accessible as possible, a lift is available providing access to all floors. If you require lift access, please let us know via the registration on Eventbrite. One the day lift access is via the rear of the building, so please alert staff at the front entrance on arrival who will be happy to direct you. We do all we can to enable access wherever possible; for further information or if you have any access concerns that you’d like to discuss before visiting, please contact our Booking Enquiries team on 01628 825925 or booking@landmarktrust.org.uk . The Booking Office is open Mon to Fri - 9am to 5pm. There is no parking available on site. The building is located in the centre of Manchester, in the Castlefield area, so we encourage visitors to use Manchester’s excellent public transport to travel to the event. If you need to drive the nearest public pay and display car park is on Water Street. For blue badge holders there are a couple of public use disabled parking bays on the street outside the building on Water Street. Making a donation as part of your visit We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to visit a Landmark for free as part of our Open Day programme, and as such we’re pleased to continue to offer free entry at all our Open Days in 2025. The Landmark Trust is a building conservation charity that relies on donations to support its work. Over the past 60 years, public support has helped us rescue over 200 historic buildings and make them available for all to experience and enjoy. Your support by attending our events, booking a workshop, and making a donation allows us to continue to save buildings at risk and continue to maintain those already in our care. Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore a future Landmark, offer opportunities for young people to experience history first-hand, or provide a charity with free Landmark stay for their service users through our 50 for Free scheme. Donations can be made when you book your Eventbrite ticket, at the event via contactless donation points, or after your visit via our website under Support.
