Sports & Fitness
Join the amazing Underwater Hockey Practice at the Long Center in Clearwater, FL, where beginners are welcomed with open arms! This unique sport originated in the United Kingdom in 1954 and has since gained popularity in over 40 countries worldwide. With over 50 clubs in 24 states across the U.S., Underwater Hockey offers an exciting and challenging experience for all.
In this limited-contact sport, two teams of six players compete to maneuver a three-pound puck across the pool's bottom into the opposing team's goal. Designed to protect the pool, the puck ensures a safe and enjoyable game. The goals, positioned at both ends of the pool, measure 3m (10ft) wide. Players dive underwater briefly, equipped with snorkeling gear, to assist their team and move the puck effectively. Communication is a key element in this sport, as talking underwater is challenging.
Participating players wear water polo caps, snorkels, masks, gloves, and fins. If you don't have your own gear, don't worry! We provide it for you. Underwater Hockey not only promotes cardiovascular health but also enhances hand-eye coordination, athleticism, endurance, stamina, and flexibility. It is an excellent activity for those looking to improve their water skills while having a blast with a supportive team.
No prior experience is necessary as our experienced instructors will guide you through the game. Bring your friends along and discover the thrills of Underwater Hockey Practice. The admission fee is just $10 per player, making it an affordable and enjoyable experience for all.
