And Fletch doesn’t shy away from his Neighbours connection with some fun chat and music speaking to his other life as a soap Doctor. The support artist on the tour is brilliant Aussie singer/songwriter Riley Catherall. Riley supported Fletch on his sellout 2024 tour and was so admired by audiences he was the obvious choice to invite for an encore performance. A night with Fletch and his band is a guaranteed fun night out! IS ALAN FLETCHER A BETTER MUSICIAN THAN DR KARL! Here's what they say. Overall Alan Fletcher delivered a show that surprised in the best possible way. He had a fantastic vocal quality throughout as well as some solid guitar playing, but what elevated the evening for me was the balance he struck between thoughtfulness and fun and the strength of his connection with the crowd. It’s safe to say he’s going to appeal to music fans way beyond just those who know him from ‘Neighbours’ Entertainment-focus.com – Laura Cooney Had the pleasure of meeting Fletch in Worthing this week. A joyful evening of songs old and new. Highly recommended - Andy Dobson What a great night at The Steam and Whistle!! Thank you so much! You were all amazing and so lovely to see you again!! - Emiliana, Hannah and Jason Saw you in Southampton last night and you definitely have a better voice and more talent than Dr Karl !! Fabulous evening! - Kim Roberts LISTEN TO ALAN : https://open.spotify.com/artist/7cFm5js7bzn23T8tKkJG5G?si=iY9d3NT4SkO19EYVj5NJBA BE QUICK AND DON’T MISS THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR AND MEET A TV ICON! This event You'll be able to drop off clothes from 3, but we won't allow anyone in to swap from 3:40 to ensure everything is set up. The bar will be open as normal during the event. There will be a changing room and a mirror. You can find us in the back room. We try to recycle clothes where possible, but we would really appreciate it if you could check that donations are clean and in good condition (i.e. not bobbled, ripped or stained). If you don't have clothes to swap but you want to take clothes, that's fine! We'll be taking financial donations to Trans Support Hub CIC, which helps us keep these events free for those who can't afford an entry fee. We've already got plenty of donations from our previous events, so whether you arrive at the start or the end of the event we'll have items to choose from. Where possible, we try to provide more specialist trans-related items, such as binders and chest enhancers. If you've got any, we'd really appreciate it as they don't stay with us for long. If you're not a member of Wharf Chambers already, please make sure you sign up (it's £2 per year) https://wharfchambers.org/membership/ Why Clothes Swaps? Clothes swaps are a great way to explore your style, help others and save clothes from going to landfill. About us We've been putting these events on since July 2022, and it's been heartwarming to see so many people exploring their style, their gender, or just revamping their wardrobe for something fresh. We'll be taking pictures to promote the work we do and future events. Please let us know on arrival if you don't want us to take your picture. Can't wait to see you all there! (NEW DATE) Three Revolutions: An Evening with Simon Hall | Waterstones Leeds

(NEW DATE) Three Revolutions: An Evening with Simon Hall | Waterstones Leeds

Sep 24, 2025 (UTC+1)
Leeds
Arts Literary Arts
The wonderful Simon Hall will be joining us on the 24th of September at 7pm to talk about his history book, Three Revolutions ! Simon will be in conversation with fellow history author, Nir Arielli. Tracing the origins of three pivotal global revolutions through six key journeys, Hall's fascinating and original volume reveals the extraordinary drama behind history's turning points. The gripping, untold story of how six epic journeys launched the three communist revolutions that changed world history forever. From the streets of Petrograd during the heady autumn of 1917, to Mao's stunning victory in October 1949, and Fidel's triumphant arrival in Havana, in January 1959, the history of the twentieth century was transformed in dramatic and profound ways by the Russian, Chinese, and Cuban revolutions. In Three Revolutions , the stories of these epoch-defining events are told together for the first time. At the heart of each revolution was an epic journey: Lenin's 1917 return to Russia from exile in Switzerland; Mao's 'Long March' of 1934-35, covering some 6,000 miles across China; and Fidel Castro's return to Cuba in 1956 following his exile in Mexico. Told in tandem with these are the corresponding journeys of three extraordinary journalists - John Reed, Edgar Snow and Herbert L. Matthews - whose electric testimony from the frontlines of each revolution would make a decisive contribution to how these revolutions were understood in the wider world. Here, in Simon Hall's masterful retelling, these six remarkable journeys are brought vividly to life. Featuring a stellar cast, extraordinary drama and an epic sweep, Three Revolutions raises fundamental questions about the nature of political power, the limits of idealism and the role of the journalist - questions that remain of utmost urgency today. Simon Hall studied history at Sheffield and Cambridge, and held a Fox International Fellowship at Yale, before moving to the University of Leeds, where he is currently Professor of Modern History. His previous books include 1956: The World in Revolt and Ten Days in Harlem: Fidel Castro and the Making of the 1960s. Information Source: Waterstones | eventbrite
