This unique event, the first of its kind on the North Fork, offers an opportunity to delve into the world of literature and storytelling. To ensure a great experience, it is recommended to arrive early for the best seat, as it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Join us for our 6th Uncommon Artist of the 2025 season, Brian Kaspr, for an Artist talk Sunday March 30th from 5:30-6:30pm in the Halyard main dining room followed by a tour of his studio. Brian Kaspr is an artist based in Norwalk, CT. Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, he was surrounded by blue collar aesthetics and work ethic. Attending the Maryland Institute College of Art and working as a design professional focused his early influences into a specific aesthetic style that is artfully cognizant, rooted in traditional quality, and full of character. As a graphic designer Kaspr created original lettering, logotypes, patterns, and one-of-a-kind customized objects for his clients. Kaspr’s artistic work has evolved from his skills as a sign painter and lettering artist. His abstract paintings and public art are based in lettering, but, rather than convey a message, the letterforms are utilized as a means of mark making. The structure of words, letters, and language create a framework for abstraction, texture, and explorations in color. Letter fragments and negative spaces provide a familiarity that ground his energetic and vibrant work. Along with his personal work, Kaspr co-founded the critically acclaimed wallpaper and fabric design studio Flat Vernacular. Flat Vernacular’s products can be seen at flatvernacular.com or on Instagram @flatvernacular Information Source: Uncommon Art & Culture at Sound View | eventbrite

The first of its kind to occur on the North Fork, Namelessis a literary salon and reading with rotating host covering a multitude of topics. Every reading is different than the last and the host guides us along the journey. We are so excited to welcome you back for our second season, created by friends & collegues Matthew Daddona & Kara Hoblin in January of 2024. Nameless Writer’s Salon #10 - “MORE GOOD TODAY” hosted by Mary Latham Thursday May 29th 6-7:30pm, Halyard Library FREE but must RSVP MORE GOOD TODAY This event will include storytellers to share moments of More Good they have experienced in their life. Small (or large) acts of human kindness. It is often we find these stories of light in our darkest moments. And so I often find myself crying when people share their stories with me. I have curated a group of individuals who I would like to share a story, but ones who I also notice always make me laugh. I have always believed in the concept of diluting tragedy with humor, and I think these readers will be a good fit to make the audience cry, laugh, and ultimately - feel better about things going on in the world. MORE GOOD / Mary Latham On October 29, 2016, Mary Latham took off in her mother’s old car on a mission to every single state in the U.S. to collect stories of human kindness. Latham used local radio and media to get the word out as she traveled through towns to collect her stories. Her mission evolved, and soon, Latham visited many high schools, church groups, rotary clubs, and other community gatherings to spread the message of More Good. The mission spanned through 154 strangers’ homes in all 50 states and covered more than 43,000 miles in her mom’s Subaru, nicknamed Old Blue. All of her stories will go into a book she plans to donate to hospital waiting rooms across the country. She received national attention, appearing on MSNBC, The Today Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and in the pages of The Washington Post, along with local media in almost every state she visited across the country. She is currently writing her book and continues to speak on the More Good mission today, hoping to bridge the schisms that divide our country and inspire others with her stories of hope – proving there really is More Good in the world. You just have to look for it. Mary Latham Founder, MORE GOOD Email: moregoodtoday@gmail.com Website: https://www.moregood.today/ There will always be more good out there if you look for it...
