Dance
Created by Armstrong Dance, with original new music from Golden Globe-nominated composer Brian Byrne (Heartbeat of Home), Celtic Throne—Psalter of Ireland is guaranteed to be an experience unlike any other! Celtic Throne reflects the wide-ranging talents and interests of its creators and dancers. First and foremost, it’s an Irish dance show, with plenty of the fancy footwork and formidable stomps made world-famous by iconic shows like Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and Heartbeat of Home. “We adore these shows; they are an inspiration,” says director Brad Macdonald. “We wouldn’t be doing this if these amazing productions hadn’t blazed the trail for us. But Celtic Throne II is totally unique—we are blazing our own trail!” Watching beautiful, happy children, some as young as 7 and 8, dancing and playing music will melt your heart. Sensational gymnastics and martial arts will have you on the edge of your seat and remind you of watching the Olympics. Our live musicians electrify even the most reserved audiences, transporting them to a cozy Irish pub. The dance and music are enhanced by stunning costumes, an elaborate set, sensational lighting and special effects, and dramatic video storytelling on a gigantic, state-of-the-art LED screen. “Imagine taking a classic Irish dance show and blending it with a West End musical and a Hollywood movie,” says Macdonald. “This is what we have done with Celtic Throne—Psalter of Ireland. You won’t find better value for your money—it’s three experiences in one!” Our dancers range in age from 5 to 25. The troupe is comprised mostly of students from the Carey Academy, some of whom have placed highly in Worlds, All Irelands, Great Britain and North American Nationals, and other top Irish dance competitions. Phil Ellis headlines Phil is an award-winning comedian who has entertained audiences of all ages with his amalgamation of off-beat observational material and physical comedy. Most recently, he was nominated for the prestigious Sky Best Comedy Show at the 2023 Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality for Phil Ellis’s Excellent Comedy Show. The show was ranked in the top 20 best-reviewed shows of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2023. ‘The density of gags is impressive… There’s not many better exponents of this message-free, ego-free, knockabout comedy than Ellis in his prime. And this is that show.’ ★★★★1/2 Chortle ‘Ellis’s performance is touched by comic genius. Every moment he is on stage something funny, and then funnier, is happening.’ ★★★★★ Scotsman Gary Hyland- Opener Gary is an up and coming comedian from Liverpool who loves to share his funny yet some time controversial stories about his life and doesn't take himself too serious. Hyland had good energy levels and was a lively stage presence. - Notts Comedy Review had me in stitches from start to finish, one of the funniest acts I've ever seen - James Kilvington, Ace Comedy Club. Supported by: Cameron Jones Hailing from St HeIens, Cameron has been doing Stand Up on the open mic circuit for the past 4 years. His comedy is a Northern man speaking about his working class experiences whilst desperately and often unsuccessfully trying to make friends with the audience. Lewis Edmondson - Has been hitting the open across the north west over the past 2-years constantly delivering with his dead pan personal (like Jack Dee) and was a Devine Comedian of the year 2024 finalist at hot water comedy club. It is hard to believe, Lewis has only been doing stand-up a few years. Josh Sedman- Josh is a Comedian who has had rapid career progression over the last 2-years months, and is an act who has had fantastic reviews wherever he has performed. Comes fully equipped with 'Wetherby Teeth' (Yorkshire's superior version of 'Turkey Teeth'), a razor-sharp wit, and a lovely head of hair. Self deprecating humour and playful audience interaction have left rooms in stitches up and down the country, leading to Josh being named ‘cat and stick comedy’s new comedian of the year 2023’. Your comedy takeover resident host: Mark Devine Mark brings his 7th Comedy Takeover to Liverpool Irish Centre, with audiences returning time after time, knowing they're in for a great night of comedy & the great value ticket price.
